Note: this is my take on what the shoot and behind the scenes reel of 'Torn Apart' would look like

Dan Smith was obsessed with films.

Of course, he'd once declared himself 'too lazy' to chase his dream of becoming a director, saying he was more the type of person to watch films rather than make them, but that didn't mean he wasn't excited about their latest project.

Their first official music video, a two-day shoot that would be filled with stunts and action shots.

With an excited grin, Dan followed his bandmates across the backlot of the small production house they'd been invited to a week ago. Although they'd walked this lot once before, today was the first time he had a chance to look around, to take it all in.

Production offices and writer's offices lined the east side of the backlot in a neat row of brightly colored buildings, and two large soundstage buildings mirrored them on the other side, towering over Dan like glorious monsters.

Tim, the director, had said to meet him at Stage 1, where they'd built a small set for the first half of the shoot. While they hadn't been too involved in the pre-production process, Dan had an idea of what awaited them within those four walls, and his stomach swirled in anticipation as he tagged behind Kyle, blissfully unaware of the storm clouds rolling in over a lazy California behind them.

"This is amazing," he commented, tugging on Woody's sleeve as he fell into step beside the singer, "isn't it? Don't you think it's wicked?"

"Yeah, Dan," Woody laughed, "it's pretty wicked."

They crossed the expanse of the lot, entering the soundstage - marked as 'Stage 1, Block A' - and a cheery assistant met them inside, her eyes shining.

"Hi, welcome!" she beamed, "you're here for Tim?"

"Yeah, we are," Dan nodded.

"Great, he said you'd be coming. He'll be here in a bit, he's wrapping up a production meeting. Just wait over here. Tea? Coffee?" she asked as she led them through to one of the sets.

"Won't say no to coffee," Will said, and followed the assistant over to the craft table.

Dan's eyes flitted around the soundstage in awe. To the left, the set for 'Lifelines', a hospital drama, stood in all its glory, every prop easily recognizable from the show. While he'd seen many Behind the Scenes reels from some of his favorite films; actually being here, standing beside the set of an ongoing show or production sent chills down his arms.

Kyle wandered over to the set, pressing a finger to one of the wooden walls, promptly ignoring the 'Hot Set' sign on the floor in front of it.

"Don't touch that," Dan cautioned, "you could get us kicked off, Kyle!"

"I just wanted to feel it, Danny, relax," Kyle argued, "it's, like, not even a real wall."

"It's a flat, or wild wall," Will explained as he reappeared with coffee, watching the assistant scurry off to complete her next task, "they're used in production to construct sets, usually made up of a wooden frame, and they can be easily moved around on set, normally on wheels, or lifted -"

"We get it," Woody cut him off, patting him on the shoulder.

"Just trying to be helpful," the bassist smiled innocently.

Dan relaxed as Kyle stepped away from the danger zone successfully, without breaking anything, and he felt the tension leave his body slightly.

"Ah, I see you boys found your way," a man with greying black hair and a pair of red-framed glasses waved at them from the doors, making his way over, "it can get a little confusing with all these different sets and stages."
