Sanity (Free Verse)

36 1 5

The morning stars

Fall short of the Sun's light

The pink and orange sunrise

Pushes back the dark blue night

The birds cheer and shout

The roosters let out their battle cry

This battle has been won by the day

The evening sunset

Pushed back by the blackness of night

The white stars and deep blue sky

Attack the sun, claiming the sky is their birthright

The birds cry and whimper

The roosters hide

For they know what is to come

The coyotes laugh

The wolves cry out victory

This battle has been won by the night

And so is this cycle

Never ending

Never resting

Never calming

In this infinite war

The only victor

Is my insanity
