I had come up with a good idea on what I would see when I reached the house. Though I had come up with a pretty good idea, I did not even come close to what I was actually going to see. In fact I was completely shocked as to what was happening before me. Though I was panicked I was also in utter awe.
There pushing two studs apart was Julius. What shocked me more was that he was in jeans, boots and a flannel. His sleeves rolled up to show the raw muscles beneath. Logan rushed over to him and grabbed one of them by his halter and began to lead him away. The gates and fences were knocked over blood clearly painting the ground and posts. It was a blood bath between that many horses.
Julius' eyes found mine as he began to walk the horse to its own stall. His hard masculine body moving with so much grace, I wonder how such a cold and calculating man could be so warm and graceful. He stopped in front of me just before he entered the barn.
"I would like a meeting tonight if possible Miss Dumont." His cold eyes seemed to burn holes in me. All I could do was nod in response.
I watched his back as he walked into the barn and began to put the horses up. He had a look in his eye, a look that meant trouble. The only question is, what trouble is he going to cause? As I walked inside I saw a look of fear? No, Nervousness.... maybe. I was not sure what I saw but Logan gave me a look I was not familiar with.
That night as I finished dinner everyone was dead silent at the table. Even Julius did not speak. What on earth was going on? Though I asked this question I was very afraid of the answer. Never have I seen Logan and Mark look the way they do....and never has Julius requested something. He always just demands.
I placed the dishes and food away, washed the dishes and made sure the laundry was started. As I came around the corner there he stood in all his glory. The man who had stolen my heart and refused to give it back, I stare as he began to fiddle with his cuffs. Julius did not fiddle...
"Liz..."
"What?"
"I know that what I am about to say can go either really bad or really, really bad. I get that you have no reason to trust me or believe anything that comes out of my mouth at this point but.... I really did. I really did send you away to protect you from me. I had almost killed you. You laid there lifeless in my arms." That's when I saw them. The small beads of liquid form in his eyes as his voice broke.
"Julius what is going on...." I could feel a lump in my throat. I had never seen him this vulnerable; I had never seen him this open.
"Liz I don't want you to do anything or say anything, hell even I was almost fooled and that is hard to do..."
"Julius what is going on... Just tell me." I was beginning to panic. His hand extended behind him as he grabbed a bundle of papers and set them on the counter. I walked to them and began to read them.
The information was gruesome and grotesque. I could feel a knot in my stomach forming. I was going to be sick. How? More than how... Why was I still alive? I looked up to Julius and he took a step forward. His arms circled me and pulled me in close. His breathing was absent as he just stood there with me.
"I thought I caught a hint of it when I got herebut I was not sure. Then I realized that if you cut both of their hair and putbeards on them.... Well they are the ones who have been going around and killingall those people.... I guess I was wrongto think that you would be completely safe."
