He kinda changes colour a bit, but his pattern stays
The rose on his tail is in a way- his heart. But it still withers and sprouts during seasons. And if he's in his full colour (aka all black) it takes more energy to hold that colour, so his rose bleeds it's colour until he returns to his casual colours
