CHAPTER 5

I woke up earlier than expected because of the noise that I heard outside the room. With a sleepy eyes, I go to the door to see what happened

"What?! I thought you already fixed it! Now, what?" I saw dad shouting at mom.

"Honey, I did everything that I can but I didn't expect it will result in that way." You can see the worry in the eyes of mom. I tried to approach them but Mary stopped me.

"Mary, why is dad shouting at mom?" I'm worried about them. They are not like this before.

"Kids aren't allowed to meddle with adult fight. Don't worry. I'll try to fix it." Mary bends for us to be at eye level. She gives me a warm and reassuring smile. I felt relieved of what Mary said.

"Thank you, Mary." I smiled. "For always being there." I hold her hands and I make sure that she felt the sincerity in my eyes.

"O--okay, Jane. Now go to your brother." She said then stood up and walk towards my parents.

Before I go, I take one last glance. I see that dad is now calmed and mom is hugging her.

I immediately go to my brother's room to tell him what happened between mom and dad

I saw Michael playing on his iPad. I sit beside him but, it seems that he didn't notice my presence.

"Michael, I have something to tell you."

He didn't say anything, he's just focused on what he is doing.

"Michael! Look at me!" I said to him.

He look at me with an irritating expression

"I'm playing! Can't you see Jane? Or are you blind?!" I'm stunned on what Michael said.

"I--I just want to ask if you know something that happened between mom and dad." I can't hold it. The tears are slowly escaping in my eyes.

I stare at my hand while my tears are still keep on falling. I could sense that Michael is a bit stunned.

"Mary ..." Michael tried to touch me but I stood up and run to my room. This is not true. I can't believe this is happening.

As I run to my room, I bumped into someone. "I'm so sorry. I ... I didn't meant to ..." Tears and sobs overcome me. I can't see where I'm going.

"Jane? Hey, kid. What happened?" Mary asked with a worried tone

"Mary!" I hugged her tightly, like I don't want to be separated from her. "Mary ... Why? Why is this happening?"

"Hush, Jane. Hush. It's fine. I'm here." She wiped my tears and lead me to my room.

"Sleep Jane. I'm here. I'll be here till you fall asleep." She said and lay me to my bed while she sit besides me.

"You're not leaving me, right?" I asked. "You're not going to changed like they did, right?" Hopeful that at least one of them. At least Mary will be still the Mary that I know.

"Yes, Jane. Close your eyes now." She stroke my hair then she hum something that I didn't understand because sleepiness overcome me.

Someone's POV

As Jane fall asleep, Mary stay beside her. Mary has been attached to her since first day. The child is the only one that makes her feel that kind of emotion. Love, Happiness, and Contentment. That's why she doesn't want to see the child crying, but she have to do it. She don't have a choice.

She didn't thought that she will be attached to one of the family members. The reason she pick this family because there's an opportunity for her to grab! Who wouldn't take it?

After some minutes staring at Jane, she leave the bedroom and go to the kitchen. She have something to do there.

In the living room, there's Mr. Banks depressed in everything that is happening. In his job, wife and also his children. His mind is in chaos, problems are drowning him. He doesn't know anymore what to do.

Mary, whose in the kitchen, saw Mr. Banks in the living room, evidently struggling. She decided to do it with a cup of coffee.

When Mary approached him, Mr. Banks doesn't noticed her presence immediately. He was startled when Mary give him the coffee. He stare at her first before accepting the cup of coffee.

"Mary, thank you for taking a good care of my children. I hope they're not giving you a hard time." Mr. Banks smiles and then sips his coffee carefully that Mary gave him.

Mary smiled to Mr. Banks and hold his shoulder "No, they are behave and kind to me."

Mary noticed that Mr Banks breath is heavy. She grin and go nearer to Mr. Banks and murmured

"They are very kind to me..."

Mr. Banks stood up. Wondering why he felt this weird sensation.

"Good to hear that from you. You can leave me now" Mr. Banks said to Mary.

Mary's smile suddenly fade and nod to Mr. Banks.

"Okay, Mr. Banks, I hope you had a good night" Mary said seductively.

She turn around and go to her room. While, Mr Banks is still breathing so heavily. He touch his head problematically.

He's not supposed to feel this way towards a nanny. Especially now, he's having a problem with his wife.
He shouts and punch the wall.

Little did he know, Mary is watching him. She's still grinning darkly.

On the other side, Jane have seen all the happenings. Shocked and dismay are evident on her face.

She immediately go inside her room. Analyzing and thinking about what she saw. 'What will I do if Mary knows that I saw what happened?' Jane's mind is in chaos. Nervous of what she should do. Or how should she behave if ever they talk again. Of course they will talk to each other again since Mary is her nanny.

'Should I asked about it? Or just leave it like that? Does Mary like Dad? What if she does? What will I do? How about Mom?' Jane's mind is overwhelming with questions. But one thing is for sure, she's going to find out what Mary's up to.

"Yes. I have to know." Jane have decided what to do, and she's desperate to do it. Of course without being caught.

But how and where she will start?
