While I was in my room, my stomach growls at me. I sigh. I'm wasting too much time just thinking about what to say to Mary.

In the end, I decided to go downstairs to eat something but as I open the door, Mary is standing in front of it holding a tray of foods.

"I'm sure you're hungry that is why  I brought you foods." She smiled at me and raise the tray that has a lot of foods

"I ... uh, thank you." I said to her without glancing

I don't know but, I'm scared what might she can do to me.

"Can I come in?"

"S--sure." I don't know but my heart is beating so loud!

What if she'd kill me? What am I going to do? My whole family is under her spell and What our family would not be back it used to be?

"... right, Jane?" I was startled at Mary's loud voice.

She's looking at me intently with a questioning look

"Ah, I-I'm sorry. I didn't hear what's you've said."

Mary come near me and touch my face

Mary stared at me with a worried face. "I think you should eat. Here," she hands me over the tray. "I hope you'll like it. I'm the one who cooked it."

When she says that words, I halt from eating and looked at her with doubt. What if she's also doing to me what she did to dad? Can I really trust Mary? But if I didn't eat this, she'll know that I'm doubting her. That I'm suspecting her.

"Is there something wrong? You don't like it?" Mary look at me darkly but, it's replaced by a fake smile

"No, it's not that," I said and look down
"Actually, I'm not hungry," I said it with conviction but my stomach betrayed me.

I smile at her awkwardly.
Mary laughed and tap my head. "Oh, you little liar." I look at her and I see her genuine smile

"Come on, Jane. Eat it. I'm not that bad at cooking you know."

I was mesmerized by the way she smiles. Ever since the day I saw her with dad, my perspective of her have changed. Like, the Mary I knew was just a face mask that covers her true intentions.

But now, right at this moment. I've seen it again. The Mary I knew from the start! Her smile is so genuine and her actions are so carefree.

"Jane?" Mary snaps. Oh. I was staring at her!

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to .." I blushed. Just like how my crush caught me staring at him.

"It's okay Jane. If you don't really want to eat it, I will just bring it down and eat it."

"I will eat it," I said.

"I'm not forcing you to eat it, Jane. It's okay if you don't want to." Mary

"Well, I'm starving. And you brought it to me." Jane "Thank you, Mary." I smiled at her genuinely.

"It's my work to do." Mary

She cooked me a pancake with a chocolate and condensed syrup on it. I eat a spoonful of it. Swallowing it slowly to taste every bit of it.

"How was it?" Mary asked

"It's good Mary! I didn't know that you can mix condensed and chocolate syrup with a banana on a pancake." I giggled.

I was enjoying eating it when someone knocked on the door of my room.

"Jane?" It's Michael! I knew it from the voice.

I immediately stand up and open the door. "Michael!" I shout. Excitement is evident in my voice. I hug him tightly.

"Jane? Why are you crying?" I didn't notice that tears started to drop.

"Oh. It's nothing. I just miss you." Confusion is all over his face.

"You're acting strangely." Even though he's still confused by my reaction, he hugs me back wholeheartedly.

As we part from the embrace, he looks past at me. When he saw Mary behind me, he waved and smiled at her. He turned his gaze back to me. "I thought you were alone. I guess I'll talk to you next time." He was about to go but I'm faster than him, I was able to grab his wrist.

"Do you need anything?" Michael asked

"I want to bond with you," I said

"But you already have someone to bond with." He taps my head and forced a smile.

I let go of his wrist when he left. Leaving me, standing alone in front of my bedroom.

I want to cry. I want to shout at him. Why can't he understand that the person I want to play with, is him!

As I go back to my room, I saw Mary in front of the mirror on my cabinet. I get paper and ballpen maybe with this my feelings will feel better.

While I was busy writing, Mary suddenly calls me. "Jane? What are you writing?" Mary look at my paper

"Nothing actually. I'm just bored and I want this boredom to be gone." I said.

"Why don't we play a game, Jane?" Mary said and smiled at me

"Ooh. I love to play! What kind of game Mary?" I yelled

"The truth game, Mary said and I noticed that her face darkened a bit

"The truth game?" I asked. I'm not familiar with that game

"Yes. Is this the first you heard about it? Well then, I will teach you how to pl,y it." Mary said and look at me intently

I'm excited to know how to play that. I'm a bit scared and happy at the same time.

"The rules are simple. You'll be the winner if you find out the truth."

"And then?" I asked

"That's how it is. Simply as that."

"But how are we going to play it?" I set aside the things I'm doing. Maybe I'll do it later.

"You have to stop the chain of lies and, of course, the liar," Mary explained and sit on my bed. I sit beside her and she looked at me.

"Who is the liar, Mary?" I asked again

"It could be me, or Michael, or your mom, it could also be your dad. Everyone here could be the liar Jane." She leans on me then whispered. "Even you could be the liar."

"No .. I'm not a liar. No one in my family is a liar!" I was taken aback by my shout. Bewildered with my own action.

I stared at Mary whose in shock too, but I saw a grin plastered on her face.

"Tell me, Mary. Who are you?"
