Chapter 3. Ghost Girl

Shiro doesn't want to attract much attention in town so he's choosing a house that was abandoned. as he is searching for a house he heard some of the town's people talked about a haunted house just past the bridge in the center of the town, they say that the owner of the house died a few years back and that its soul was still wandering in the house. they also said that if you go inside the house you won't be able to come back. 

Shiro became curious about the house and decided to go to this so called haunted house, "ghosts huh....?" he said to himself. he can see the house after arriving at the bridge, the house is big yet old like it's been there for several years. Unlike the other houses of the town. this house is un-approached by everyone in town. 

He went inside for shelter because it was getting dark. As soon he entered the house he sensed a presence like there's someone watching in the shadows. he didn't mind it at first and thought that it is just his imagination.

Later, shiro looked around the house and found nothing, he picked a room for himself to rest. he looked at the window and thought, "strange, I can see no one in here and yet for some reason I feel like there's someone watching me". the moon's light illuminated the water on the bridge and he said that "this view is amazing". after looking he turned back and saw a persons shadow by the door. the shadow, pointed at the door like it's telling him to go there.

Driven by curiosity, Shiro lit a candle and walked outside the room. When he got out he looked down and saw a drawn arrow on the floor. he followed the arrow and it led him towards a room. He is puzzled by what he saw and said "I didn't see this while I was exploring the house a while back, this could only be done by magic it seems". He approached the room cautiously and tried to open the door.

The door was unlocked so he slowly opened it and saw something glowing on the table. he cautiously approached the table and when he looked he saw a pair of glowing earrings. he tried to reach his hand to the earrings when it suddenly glowed even brighter than before, then slowly a girl appeared on top of the earrings. it's like the girl is being projected by the earring.

The girl said "who are you and where did you come from". Shiro wasn't expecting to see a ghost in a glowing pair of earrings, even so he still answered her question. he said "my name is Shiro and I came from a far away village". "I see, then why are you here and for what purpose is you're stay" she asked him with a serious look on her face. "I mean no harm, I only came here to find some place to stay for the night I'm not staying here very long.

"Is that so, then I implore you to sleep inside this room for tonight, don't get me wrong I'm not doing this because I'm lonely or anything it's just to make sure you don't do anything stupid so I'll be watching you" she said. "It seems like ghosts get lonely as well huh" shiro said to himself.

"ok thank you I'm very grateful for your kindness. I appreciate it but you don't have to be so anxious around me" he said. "Is that so, then you can sleep in that bed on the corner. good night" she then disappeared after she said that.

"What a weird ghost girl" he said to himself. he then fixed the old bed in the room and slept. Early in the morning while asleep, shiro heard some footsteps inside the house. he immediately woke up and hid inside an old closet near the door. While hiding he heard voices of people talking about some artifact. Person 1 said "hey shouldn't we have some more men in here to find it, you know the more people searching the better chances we have of finding it right?".

Person 2 said "are you an idiot? we cant spare another men, the boss needs them for a raid on the north. besides, the boss said its inside here somewhere, we just have to look harder". Person 1 replied "I know but...". "oh shut up will ya, just keep you're eyes open for an artifact it must be around here" Person 2 said with an irritated look. "An artifact? What's an artifact?" Shiro mumbled to himself.

As the footsteps became louder and louder someone suddenly screamed. GHOOSSTT, HEEELPPP, HEEELLPP. Shiro was curious about those screams when suddenly he remembered. "oh, it must be that ghost girl, she must have scared those guys out.

Slowly opening the closet door what he saw next is the ghost girl with an unpleased look on her face as she said "good morning shiro did you slept well?". "Yes I did it was kind of comfy in here so I had a nice sleep" he said.

The girl said "well good for you then". "How about you did you sleep well" he asked. She replies with "you know that ghosts don't sleep right?". "Is that so, I didn't know" he said. Sigh "you're not really knowledgeable about ghosts are you?. "Yeah I guess you could say that" he said. In the girls mind she was thinking "this guys weird but he's not bad though". While she was thinking shiro asked "Say I still don't know you're name can you tell me?". "Oh I'm sorry, how rude of me tehehe. my name is Leila but you can call me Lei, nice to meet you shiro..."
