Punong puno ng pag-aalala ang isipan ni Sophia habang nakamasid sa himpapawid. Few minutes from now, they will be landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. She looks so worried. She's not even sure anymore kung tama pa rin ba ang kanyang desisyong pag-uwi sa bansa pagkatapos ng ilang taong paglisan. Surely she misses her family and friends pero at the same time may mga bagay talagang hindi na worth it pang balikan. Her wounded heart is starting to open up once again. Ang sakit ng nakaraan ay mas lalo pang nagpapabalisa sa kanya.
She's been through a lot of counseling the past few years since she left the country and moved to the States. Life was so hard on her for the first two years but eventually she was able to cope up. Luckily her twin cousins stayed with her for two years but they eventually left right after graduation. The good thing is, little by little she was able to handle herself with a sane mind and always made sure to see her psychiatrist once a week. No one knows about it, not even her family members. She kept this secret from them. Even after seeing a doctor for four years, she is still not sure kung tuluyan na nga ba talagang siyang gumaling.
Finally, the plane landed. Moment of truth. Oras na para harapin ang realidad. She is also tired of running and hiding. Paulit-ulit niyang sinasabi sa sarili na hindi na siya ang dating Sophia. Time has made her stronger so she should have more confidence in herself. Sa katunayan, siya ay matagumpay na ngayon at kilalangkila ang kanyang pangalan sa buong mundo. Sapat na sigurong rason ito for her to feel more at ease.
And with that, she stood up confidently sabay sabing, "You can do it Sophia." She grabbed her bag and look for her phone. Nakatanggap siya ng isang mensahe mula sa kanyang ama. As expected, he's too busy to pick her up. It doesn't bother her anymore.
(Sophia's POV)
Wow! How I miss this country? What do I expect? Apat na taon ka ba namang nawalay sa bansang iyong kinagisnan. "Oh Pilipinas kong mimumutya."
I'm currently looking for someone. Dad told me that our family driver will come and pick me up.
"Eh, asan na ba yung sundo ko?"
"SOPHIA!" Someone's calling my name, did I hear it right?
Hinahanap ko ang pinanggagalingan ng boses.
"SOPHIA!"
Hayun, tinatawag na naman niya ako ulit. Suddenly, I saw someone running towards me. She looks pretty, sino ba 'to?
"Hey, sis! How are you? Remember me?", pambungad na sabi nito.
"A-ahh..." Tinitigan ko ito ng maigi.
"Leslie is that you?" Tumango ito kaya ako'y napasigaw.
"Oh my gosh! What happened? You really turned into a beautiful swan my dearest friend." And we hugged each other so tight. I miss her so much. The last time I saw her was seven years ago.
Nahiya pa ito, "Hindi naman masyado. Mas maganda ka pa rin kesa sakin."
"Ay sus, napakabolera mo pa rin hanggang ngayon. How many boys do you have right now?"
Natawa kaming pareho, "Walang ganon. Ikaw talaga. Actually, meron. Isa lang naman."
I do have a guess, "Don't tell me..." I pause for a minute, "Don't tell me si Marion pa rin hanggang ngayon?"
Tumango na naman siya ulit, "Wow! Ang tibay ninyong dalawa ha. If I remember it correctly, 8 or 9 years na kayo together di ba?"
"Yes! 9 years and still counting my friend. I'm glad you're back talaga. Actually, I want to ask you to be my maid of honor. I'm getting married" Ipinakita niya sakin ang kanyang engagement ring.
