I have read that violence in the media is ruining society.
Like Palahniuk pulling his punches in Fight Club.
I don't believe it.
It is a statement that is too easy to see coming.
Like comparing it to seeing a punch coming.
Talk to a boxer.
They don't look at the punches.
The hand is quicker than the eye.
It is all reactions to changes
in light in the cones of your eyes.
and a thousand yard stare
The mind is the only thing quicker.
I suspect my tongue of being in the race
some days I suspect there is correlation
but no causality.
But what if it isn't violence killing us?
What if it is all the other inauthentic emotions in movies.
What if it is that cinematic over the top fairy tale love
that is ruining society.
How do I say this.
those chick flicks?
where she gets swept off her feet..
the other guy is hardly ever a dick.
He is usually more successful less attached.
lets her do her own things. pretty healthy
though. but we don't want health.
So what if video games dont cause violence?
What if love causes violence?
What if love causes war?
What if war causes famine?
What if love causes murder?
and s majority of hate crimes?
What if love is a mass murderer?
What if the talisman doesn't work?
What if love is the Lyssa Virus
that turns us all into zombies?
The reason we even believe in zombies.
The reason we want them in the first place.
So people like Palahniuk can make big true statements
then write it off as a psychic break
emotional trauma, all a wash
because he believes it enough to swing
but not to fucking hit something
you want to kill something, you want to kill chuck
but a zombie doesn't taint the conscience the same. ;)
