More Than an Experiment

Chapter 1: Introduction

     Beca had just arrived at Barden University for her freshman year of college. As she was unloading her things from her taxi, she was distracted by a nerdy boy singing to her from the back seat of his parents car. Beca was unimpressed, giving him a pitiful smile and quickly got back to unloading her things. She avoided looking up, trying her best to avoid making eye contact again. Beca hates eye contact. The stoplight finally changed and Beca watched as the car drove down the road to the next parking lot. She took a light breath, and let it out stressfully.
     As she walked through the door of her dorm room, she was slightly taken back by the face she was receiving from her new roommate. "Uh... hi, you must be Kimmy Jin. I'm Beca." Beca awkwardly waved and tried to force a smile. Kimmy Jin just stared at Beca, the expression on her face never budging. Beca raised her eyebrows at her roommate before turning around to unpack her things. As Beca was unpacking, she felt Kimmy Jin continue to stare at her. Beca turned around, confused and annoyed. "Dude, what?!" Beca snapped. Her roommate just sized Beca up and down with a look of disgust on her face. "Fuck this!" Beca said with an irritated laugh. "I'm going to the activities fair, you better not touch my shit!" She quickly made her way out of the room.
     Beca walked down the hall to the stairs. She had always wanted to move to LA to become a music producer, but her dad insisted she try at least one year of college first. He knew Beca had the talent to become a successful music producer, but wanted Beca to have a normal life before she took such a huge
step. Beca made an agreement with her father that she would come to college for a year. He offered to help her move to LA if she still didn't want to be at college after the year was over. She didn't expect to be here long.
     Beca walked up to the activities fair and took a deep breath. She hated being around people, especially this damn many. "This is going to be a fucking nightmare" Beca sighed to herself as she ran her fingers through her brunette hair. Beca only came to the activities fair to see if she could find any other DJ's at the campus. If she was stuck at Barden for a year, she was going to need to stay involved in music as much as she possibly could.
     Unfortunately, the only DJ's at Barden were the "Deaf Jews". Beca scoffed at this. "How do you even have enough deaf Jews at one campus to form a whole group?" She wondered, rolling her eyes. Beca turned around and started to walk through fair back to her dorm, keeping her eyes low. She always kept to herself, she felt it was easier that way. However, a pretty girl at one of the booths stopped Beca on her way out.
