Music played lightly in my ears as I started to drift off to sleep. As soon as I fell into the deepness that consumed me at night, I heard a light tapping on my window.
"Jaysen! Pssst Jaysen!" I heard a voice whisper from down below.
I rolled out of bed and opened my window to see Luke holding a handful of rocks. I laughed and held onto the window sill, leaning myself out a bit.
"Hemmings what the hell? it's like 2am!" I whispered loud enough for Luke to hear.
"Yeah I know but I got bored. Can I come up?" Luke asked.
"Come on." I said, groaning and motioning him up.
Seconds later I saw Luke struggling to push his lanky body through my window. He was halfway hanging out.
"Hey Black." He said, giving me a small nod as I pulled him the rest of the day in.
"Hey Hemmo." I said, shutting the window.
Luke was my bestfriend. And he has been for the past 11 years. We met when we were six and have been inseparable since. Except in about year 7, my mother began hating Luke. Yet she wouldn't tell me why. I was never allowed to have Luke over nor I wasn't allowed to go to Luke's house because his parents hated me since that year also. Yet of course, we broke the rules.
It was pretty common for Luke to be in my room at 2am if he was bored or couldn't sleep. And it wasn't unusual for me to be at Luke's either.
"So what's up?" Luke said rolling onto my bed, cuddling up with the blankets.
I cuddled beside him and rested my head in the crook of his neck."Nothing..Well actually a lot." I sighed.
Luke stroked my hair, "Well what's up buttercup?" Luke giggled.
I cuddled closer to him, "Johnson. I mean I love him and all but he's terrible to me. He..He.." I trailed off.
Luke eyed me hard, "Jaysen Black. Tell me right now."
"He hit me luke."
Luke's mouth hung wide open and he pulled me in so close I could hear the steady beat of his heart which I actually liked.
"Come on Jay. Let's go take a drive."
