Wᴀs Sᴇᴛᴏ ᴀʟᴡᴀʏs ᴅᴇsᴛɪɴᴇᴅ ᴛᴏ ʙᴇ ᴀ Kᴀɪʙᴀ?

Kaiba always knew when his personality had started to change. He thought that everyone was alone in this world and had to fend for oneself. But, looking at everyone else, he realized that they all had at least someone they can count on and talk to about anything. He wondered. Could he have led a completely different life? What would he have done if he wasn't a Kaiba? Would he have been like the others and done the same things?

Kaiba gets a chance to go back in time, back to that first day when they arrived at the orphanage. Seto and Mokuba were taking a walk around the city during sundown. They talked causally about what will happen to them from that point on. Seto is a very ambitious person, and he will do anything to make sure that he and his brother will one day live a better life.

Then, Seto looks up and sees two guys standing at the sidewalk. But, something about these people intrigues Seto. He notices that the taller one looks a lot like him, but older. And the other one looks a lot like his little brother. Neither group approaches. They just continue to stare at each other from a distance.

Eventually, Kaiba heads inside the orphanage and warns Seto to be careful with what he plans to do. Seto doesn't know who this guy really is, but he does take heed of his warning. But, Seto knows that he and his brother have no family to turn to or trust, but he also knows that they both can't grow up in the orphanage forever. He had to get them out somehow. He will take any chance that he can possibly get at becoming adopted.

Seto still stares at this person in front of him. His appearance was uncanny, and he wonders if this could be his future self. He doesn't question him directly, but he silently wants to know what will happen to him and if Mokuba is happy.

Kaiba knows exactly what Seto is planning as of right now. He doesn't try to stop him, but he continues to warn Seto and tells him that his heart will be full of pain and sorrow.

Seto later succeeds in his plan, and he and Mokuba get adopted. However, Seto's life turned difficult rather quickly. He thinks about how hard everything will be from now on, but he will try to manage somehow.

One night, Kaiba appears in Seto's study room and he advises Seto very urgently, "Save yourself!" Seto is surprised to see him again. Kaiba looks at Seto carefully, but he knows himself quite well. If Seto was really destined to be a Kaiba, then he will never give up. He will work as hard as he can and eventually become the president of KaibaCorp, changing the company's whole image. He will also become a top-ranked duelist and be the sole owner of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards, but at what cost? Kaiba knows that if Seto does this, then his personality will drastically change. He won't be that same person who used to call his brother, Moki. He won't smile like he used to anymore. He will find out how hard it would be to talk to and connect with his peers and try to be friends with anyone. And he will constantly have the belief that everyone is truly alone in this world. There's nothing that Kaiba could do to change that. . .

Seto gets up and shouts that he will never give up. He is doing all of this not only for himself, but also for Mokuba. If he has to encounter and endure all of these difficult problems in life, then he will push himself and get through them so that they can both live a better life and start fulfilling their dreams. This is his choice that he decides to make, making Kaiba finally realize that he's never really been alone. He still has Mokuba. Mokuba has and will always stay with him no matter what happens in life.

Kaiba accepts that this is his fate. This is exactly why he chose this life. He turns and leaves the mansion.

Seto manages to catch him outside and asks Kaiba what his future has in store for him. Kaiba reveals that there will be a lot of incidents that will happen to him. He will accomplish many things, but there will be a few failures that will personally affect him along the way. He won't tell Seto what any of these are. Seto has to figure those out by himself as Kaiba returns back to his own time.

Author's Note: Who knew that Kaiba was capable of going back in time? xD This story in particular is one of my personal favorites to edit and write about back in 2016. I remember having so much inspiration just to edit with this set of lyrics and somehow made some kind of story to go along with it. Having Kaiba see and talk to his younger self was definitely a story that I wanted to create at the time, so I'm glad that I'm able to share this story once again here. I hope you enjoyed this story!
