"Please don't look at me, please don't look at me." I say to myself as I walk down the busy hallways of my new school, with my school books hugged to my chest along with my latest library book. I hoped and prayed that my class was around the next corner. I hated when people looked at me like that. Like I was just an exhibit or something at a museum. Lucky for me my class was just around the corner. Biology. It was already halfway through the school year when my parents decided it was time to move completely across the country. We used to live in Oregon, but then my mom got a job in Alabama. I missed all my old friends, even though there were only five of them. I was always fairly quiet, but at least at my old school I had grown up with my classmates since kindergarten. Now in this new school, as a freshman no less, I knew nobody. I was alone, but that was okay for now. I still have confidence that I will make new friends. I sat down on my stool and opened up my book before the teacher came in. All the boys in the class wore navy blue polo shirts along with black slacks and black dress shoes while the girls wore white long sleeved shirts, black tights, black dress shoes and navy blue skirts. I matched with the boys. The teacher came into the classroom just moments after the bell. "Alright class, before we get started today I would like to introduce a new student." I shrink into my seat; as if it would somehow make me invisible. "Mr. Storm, could you please come up and introduce yourself?" He asked in that sweet old man voice that just makes it impossible to say no to his simple and physically harmless request. "Yes sir." I reply as I slowly get up from my seat and stand up in the front of the class.
As I looked out at my fellow classmates they all seemed to already want to shove me into a locker, I already felt like I was going to be the new school weird kid. Yet still I spoke. "H-hello everyone. M-my name is Carwyn Storm. I moved here from a small town called Cottage Grove Oregon." I stop not knowing what else to say.
