Once class was over I could hear the others snickering in the hallways. I could feel their eyes looking at me as if trying to stare straight into my soul. I walked with my head down with my books hugged to my chest like before. I pushed my glasses up onto my freckled nose and pushed back my black bangs which had a secret rainbow street hidden under them. I glanced up at the other kids in the hall every once in a while. They all just looked at me like the weird new kid...but then, I saw this man walking down the hall. He was very tall with blonde hair and hazel eyes. He was tossing a football between his hands as he walked and talked with a group of other guys, for once not making fun of me. I froze just watching him. I had seen attractive men before but...but nothing like this. When they walked by he looked at me and smiled. I couldn't help but blush as I hugged my books tighter to me. My heart started beating faster and my head started to hurt. "No, no, no, fuck no." I mentally said as I ran to the bathroom and locked myself in a stall. "No, not today, not here." I slowly poked my head out to make sure no-one was there before stepping out in front of the mirror. My ears pricked up as my fluffy rainbow tail wagged behind me. No-one could see me like this, not even my own mother.
If any of the other kids saw me like this I wouldn't hear the end of it, or even worse I would become even more of a target for hate crimes than I already am. "Welp time to be late to class for the first time I guess." I walked back and locked myself in the stall. You see, when ever I have very strong emotions like love, anger and happiness I get the tail and ears of a fox. Not only that but they're rainbow colored as well. The bell rang as I waited for them to go away. Once they did I headed to my next class. "Ah you must be Mr. Storm." "Yes." I replied to my English teacher. She was an older lady with gray hair but she had a clear face for a woman of her age. She wore a dress shirt with a magenta skirt that tapered down to her knees from her wide hips, a green blazer, and pointed red glasses that had a strap to hang from her long, straight neck. "Why are you late?" "I'm sorry Ma-am I got lost." I replied trying to keep her from snapping at me. "Very well, since it is your first day I wont punish you; but you show up to my class on time from now on am I understood?" "Yes Ma-am." "Good, now go take your seat."
