SHE HAD NEVER REALLY GIVEN much thought as to how she'd perish from this world. If she had, she'd imagine herself either dying from a heroic act or something unusual; something unusual like her untimely demise being caused by one of those beasts you hear in legends and tales and myths. Weird, right? But it never really occurred to her that she would be facing death in the face so soon.
But now, she was staring into those deadly red eyes of the predator, like they were two arch enemies, eyes glowing similar to a crackling fire. A ferocious growl resonated across the room, so deep and primitive, and she found that it came from her. She had never growled that way before.
A smirk graced his undeniably gorgeous features, illuminating just how sadistic he was. His cold hand held her throat as she tried to claw herself out of his firm grasp. She could feel her lungs burning from the lack of air, her heart aching and neck throbbing, her mind and eyesight getting foggy and blurry with every passing second.
Another growl was heard. But this time, it didn't come from her.
The pain was excruciating. She couldn't breathe properly. It was like her human lungs were gone, gaping like she was a fish out of water.
She couldn't comprehend what was happening. She felt numb all over. Everything burned, especially the crook of her neck. She didn't know what was happening, but she knew that she was no longer being held up to the wall, and was instead lying on the ground. She could hear the faint voices, but only one was prominent. She could recognize this honeyed voice in any circumstance.
It was him.
But he sounded so sorrowful, like he was choking back tears.
Could he cry?
No, he couldn't. But she believed he would have if he could.
Hm. Dying in the arms of the one you love wasn't a very bad way to go. It seemed somewhat perfect.
If it hadn't been because of that tracker, she really wouldn't be here. Well, at least she did something heroic and saved her sister, so it was worth it. She may not have lived life to the fullest, but she had a good one; she had a great family, some amazing friends, and met the man of her dreams - her soulmate; the limited time they shared with one another was more enjoyable and memorable than she'd care to admit. She loved him very much, she realised. That would never change.

A/N: So this Proem for the Twilight book, which is part one in this fanfiction - it is after all, book one of the Saga 😂. There may be a lot of mistakes, *sings in tune of Marry Your Daughter* so bare with me please if I take up too much of your time. *coughs* Honestly, I should stop singing since my throat is swelling up, and it needs time to rest (MY VOICE!!! 😱😭).
( Edit: I really actually sang that with my hoarse voice, and I went to my appointment the day after. As expected, I got tonsillitis, dang. I'm not supposed to sing much now, and I got bad breath, so I gotta pop in mints every now and then.
I can't even eat or drink anything high on sugar anymore - NOOOOO!!! I got such a sweet tooth, and even though my wisdom teeth have holes and my two front teeth as well, I still want sugar! [Yeah, I have to get them pulled out some time this year. Preferably before school starts.] )

Fanfiction"I really do love you." His voice was etched with worry and such sincerity, speaking slowly as though those words could not have been more impacting to her. She didn't look at him and instead stared ahead with the return of that familiar blank look...
