One morning I woke up to that sweet smelling nectar that called to me, the red river that flowed through my lover’s body enticed me. But no, this was a luxury that I could not partake in. I vowed to keep him safe from me. His blood was completely off limits to me. But every day I smelt him, his smell drove my animal instinct insane, it was my greatest fear come true; I was becoming his greatest danger. Long nights, horrible thoughts, but bright day’s filled with love and laughter but in all honesty love just wasn’t enough. Happy moments couldn’t last forever, most love stories ended in tragedy. It doesn’t matter how many chaste kisses we shared or happy memories we created. The man that slept beside me had a death sentence and I just happen to be his executioner.

Day by day seconds turned into minute’s that turned into hours that finally ended in days. I didn’t know how much longer I could take being close to him.  He wanted hugs I wanted his blood he killed me with kindness and I could just kill him he wanted love I wanted him dead, oh the sweet irony. I didn’t think he understood the danger he was in, I wasn’t some sweet girl he cared.  I was a cold killing monster, my “daily walks” ended with several people dead. I walked into the house countless of times with the blood of innocent people running down my hands and mouth. He acted like he never noticed like it was normal to see someone covered in others blood. Could all of my “flaws” really not bother him? Could he really care for me no matter what happened? Why couldn’t he just leave me? Forget me; it would make it easier for the both of us.

I always knew she was different, from the first moment I saw her I knew she was hiding something. She was a strange girl from the fifth floor; what normal woman wanted to be as far away from people as possible?. Once I stepped into the elevator and saw blood smeared on the button that leads to her floor. Of course being the devoted stocker I was I made up excuses for her. “Maybe she got a paper cut” or “How do I even know that’s blood, she could be a painter”. Somewhere deep inside I knew she wasn’t a painter and I couldn’t imagine one flaw upon her flawless skin. Did this bother me? Did knowing there was something seriously wrong with this girl frighten me? Absolutely not, before I even had a chance to stop it I had feelings for this strange girl. So what she had a little thing for blood, that’s weird but definitely not a deal breaker. Plus it’s not like I haven’t dated a strange girl in the past, once in college I dated a girl with a six toe on her left foot. I guess I couldn’t compare a fascination for blood and having an extra toe.

“Could I treat this blood fixation the same as six toe Sammy?”

“I don’t know but I’d give anything to try” I said to myself.

Flashback November 22nd, 2000

I could hear the evaluator stopping at my floor. I knew immediately who it was, who else who visit the lair of a monster. I opened the door before he got the chance to knock. “Hi” he said shyly. “Hi yourself” I said smiling. He watched me for months but he was still shy talking to me face to face. “Would you like to take a hike with me?” He asked me. “In the woods?” I asked as he nodded. “Sure” I said shutting my door we took his car up to the campsite and walked to a little opening only he and I knew about. On the walk there he tried holding my hand like he did whenever we were walking together, on instinct I pulled away. “Why don’t you let me hold your hand or kiss or touch you for that matter?” he asked me.  “That’s not my thing” “then what is your thing” he said laughing. “Games” I answered honestly. “Games?” he asked confused. “What kind of games?” “Let me show you” I said with a mischief filled smile. I ran a little faster than a normal girl would to prove my case. “If you catch me I’ll let you kiss me, if not; you can’t. Agreed?” “Agreed but no using your little magical powers okay?” he said mocking me. “I’m aware of what you’re referring to, and I hardly think you can consider it as Magic” I said smiling. “Whatever, I’ll give you a five second head start, Kay?” he told me. “Okay. One, two, three, four, five… catch me if you can” I said as I took off running through the entrance of the woods. I went a little over a normal pace; I didn’t want to tire out my little human that quickly.

As I heard his footsteps I turned in the opposite direction. I wanted to make this a little more interesting so I found a low branch and climbed high enough where he could hear me but I was still covered by thick leaves. “You’re not good at this game, are ya?” I said mockingly. “I can’t help it if the opponent is cheating now can I?” he said in a light tone. “Turn five steps to the right” I told him. “Okay” he said turning to the right. “Now walk about 10 feet and turn left” I said as a small smile crept onto my face. “Am I getting hotter” he asked while looking around. “Not at all” I said laughing. “F 608 are you teasing me” he asked with a disapproving look. “Okay C 305. Your right I’m cheating, look up” I told him. “I don’t see anything” he said looking up and around towards the high branches. “You don’t? Hmmm, look behind you” I told him I as I landed on the forest floor silently. “Hi” he said with a smirk. “Hello” I responded questioning why his face held a smirk. “I win” he said proudly. “I suppose you do” I said nervously. He touched my cheek but didn’t comment on how cold I was. His lips slowly made their way to mine. He brushed his lips against mine, testing the waters I suppose; he walked me backwards until my back hit the trunk of a gigantic elm tree. Slowly he kissed me soon after; one kiss became two than three then I just couldn’t stop, our kisses became more heated when he pulled back gasping for breath I took the opportunity to kiss his neck; I could feel his blood flowing through his veins. I could feel his heartbeat against my lips. The next thing I knew I felt my teeth descend and graze his neck. “Stop, we have to stop” I said pushing him away from me. “Okay” he told me while returning his gaze to me “Let’s go home”.
