reid extended their hand out to touch the sign, the rough-hewn wood leaving tiny splinters in their soft fingertips. their moment of awe faded quickly, and they snapped back to whatever drunken reality was left.
"what the fuck is crosswood lane?" reid exclaimed, their hand recoiling from the wooden sign. without any hesitation, they headed down the path labeled crosswood lane. as they slowly made their way down the dark corridor of trees, the scenery started to get a little bit stranger.
leaves, once a dark green, were now flashes of purple in the night. noises more eerie than crickets rang through the forest. rustling from nearby bushes became more ominous, but reid trudged on.
only once the sky began to grey at the partially obstructed horizon, did they stop to sit down on a smooth, slate grey rock to rest. "where the hell am i?" reid wailed, covering their grime-dusted face with their hands. they stayed their until the sky turned pink, then to the blue at the aftermath of sunrise.
reid stood on aching legs as they glanced around, only to find they were somewhere completely unfamiliar. the trees around sported lavender petals, hanging like vines. the light around them was ethereal, not quite natural to bleak as it typically was in moody creek.
they jumped when turning around, only to see a tall, lanky being with tanned skin, long ringlets of rich turquoise hair, and a steampunk getup, complete with brass goggles.
