*2 months later*

"We've got incoming!" Hank shouted Flynn turned around and the grinade fell right before her feet. Next thing she knew she was tackled to the ground Hank was on top of her. The grinade went off the sound deafening both of them. "Bow are you alright!?" Dean shouted pulling Hank off of Flynn but in the process of war around them they couldn't keep their eyes off of each other.

"Congratulations to my team for successfully completing the mission. Now I would like to see Bow and Flynn please". Daniel said. The team was dismissed Hank and Flynn walked over to the Caption. "Caption I can explain-" Flynn started but Daniel held his hand up. "I would like to congratulate you two. You are finally able to say you've been promoted. Now I suggest that Flynn, you and Hank stick to each other's side and go defend your country. And oh Flynn do leave base and go to the city for a change. You've been stuck here since you arrived and if you don't want to go I will make sure you go even if I have to escort you myself".  Daniel turned over to Hank "Son, join me. Flynn will meet you at the cbase gate in a few minutes." Flynn nodded and went over to her dorm.

The women in marines were much friendlier then back at the army base. They seemed to have accepted Flynn right away and gave her survival tips every now and then. Megan whose bed was next to Flynns was busy getting dressed. "Well here's to the newbie! Well done Squash." The rest of the girls gave a round of cheer to Flynn. "Thanks guys." she threw down her cap on the bunk bed and tried too untie her now-knoted-sweaty - muddy hair.  "ouuuuwwww" she groaned. Megan sat crosslegs on her bed laughing at Flynn. "Only a female marine knows what it is to go without sleep for 24 hours run Round shooting people but still shit a bunch when her hair is tangled" Flynn stood with the hair tie in her hand. Her hair was knotted around it. "You got that right."   "and here I am still trying to figure out how your hair grew that fast in two months when all it's been through was torture."   Flynn looked over at herself in the mirror.

She would never have thought that she'd look like this. Her hair hung till her bra strap. Her whole body got smaller but bigger in muscle. Her arms had scars on and a new fresh one over her left cheek. In a way it broke her heart that she didn't recognized herself anymore. Quickly she got dressed into a clean uniform tied her hair back again and placed a cap on her head. There was no time to shower since the Caption and Hank was waiting for her.

Making her way to the gates she greeted alot of Marines who passed. One of them was Dean who smiled all bloody tooth. He was always one lucky bastard. No matter what Dean smiled about everything. But Flynns thoughts were interrupted as she nearer the gate.  Hearing Daniel and Hanks voices she decided to Eavesdrop a little.

"Hank you and I both know the less she knows about her background the better" Daniel hissed. Hank had his hand on his head gripping his hair. "Oh Yea and you're going to burry her past the way you buried my mother?" Daniel walked over too Hank standing near in his face. "You will always be my son. But that is private. If those people found out-" "Then what?"

Flynn walked around the corner. Daniel took a step back from Hank and plastered on a smile. "Well someones ready." Hank turned around and all the color drained from his face. "Hi" he greeted shortly. Something inside of him told him that She knows. But his heart squeezed at the thought. "hay. You ready?"  Hank only nodded silently.  "Well then. You two enjoy it. And don't come back unless you've enjoyed yourselves." Daniel turned and walked away.

On their way to the city the drive was quiet. Hank focused on the road and Flynn focused outside. " Is everything alright?" Hank asked her. Smirking to herself she answered." Yea I'm just thinking about before all this. I used to stare out the window when my mom was driving and she'd ask me that exact same question you just did." with that she looked over to Hank and their eyes met. Both of them knew. But both of them were equally scared.

Half N hour passed and they finally entered the city. First think Hank did was pull over at the unisex barber." Come on"   "Why?" Irritated he looked over to her "Do you want me to drag you?" Flynn only gave him a look and undid her seat belt.   Both of them entered the Barber only to be greeted by the most friendliest Mexican ever. "Ola" He greeted ND emediatly pulled Flynn into a hug. "Hank why did you hide this one?" He asked Hank all too serious. Hank chuckled unsure what to answer and took a seat. "The usual cut for me please and for her... " Hank paused and looked over to Flynn who suddenly looked like a lost insecure puppy. Which he founded cute. "... Dye her hair, cover the roots or whatever you call it and get rid of the knots" The Mexican smiled at Flynn She looked almost scared at the guy. She took off her cap undid her top and took it off. Only standing there in her uniform pants,, tank top and combat boots she stook a seat next to Hank. He looked over at her. She's changed alot. The fresh scar on her cheek was still freshly stitched up and red. "What?" she asked him.  "Nothing. You need new clothing as that Tank top is 3 sizes too big." Flynn looked down. 'it's true' she thought to herself.

An hour later Hank walked back into the Barber shop only too see Flynn waiting there for him, back  in uniform playing with her cap. Her hair was a dark chocolate brown and shone in the light." Damn" Hank let out. Flynn quickly jumped up and looked at him.. Besides the cut on her cheek she looked like a innocent girl and Hank felt his heart give a squize.  "I got you some stuff" He handed the bag over to Flynn. She peeked inside seeing some makeup and hair brushes and then a new white tank top as well. "I didn't know what you'd prefer so.." "It's amazing. Thanks." She  gave a warm smile at Hank knowing he did it out of care.

The ride back to the camp was quiet. Somehow they found it comfortable. To Flynn it was just always tense. On the field, in training,in Hanks presence.  It was as if she had to be at her best around him. But when it came to the fact that they could be silently around each other? She found peace and comfortness in his presence.    For Hank it was a unfortunate fact that he found Flynn very attractive which he preferred to keep to himself. He could see right through her. The mask. The fake smiles and the longing in her eyes when she looks at him. He knew it was the longing for a love she left at home. It wasn't a longing for him. It could never be a longing for him. Ever.

Back at base the Christmas dinner was already starting. Somehow the marine force always kept a Christmas dinner before the holiday starts and everyone goes back to their families. About two days before departure home everyone would get off, the gates would be locked a feast would be readied for everyone.  All rules and positions fall down and new ones would be set up. Just for those two days. It was in an order as 1. The males stay in their dorm and the females in theirs. 2. No one is allowed to leave base camp.

Hank grinned knowing it would be his and Flynns first Christmas feast with the marines. And what a feast it was going to be. Daniel welcomed them as they got out of the vehicle but Hank only gave him a look of disapproval as Daniel pulled Flynn into a hug. "Go and change out of this uniform my child the dinner starts at 7."

After Flynn left Hank looked at Daniel. "permission to speak freely?" Daniel sighed wishing that his son would let his guard down for a second or two. "It's not necessary to ask. No matter what. You know you'll always be my son." for a second Hank thanked God for the willpower he has. Knowing that this is mostlikey the only peace time the base ever has in life. Or rather every year. He swallowed down the venom words and just nodded." If you want to keep her past hidden, keep it hidden but just not from her." Daniel almost kissed his son for the sense he has to reason but just smiled at him. " There's a reason why the council chose you two to be stuck with each other and it definitely doesn't have anything to do with me". He turned to walk away but was stopped by an hand around his arm. "wait-" Hank blurred out. Daniel turned around and looked at him. "you never made us stuck with each other?" "no. There is bigger things ahead. Much bigger then you might understand but nothing to worry about. Flynn is bigger part of it then you or I will ever be. But without you. She won't survive it."
