Logan stared out his open window, breathing in the fresh spring air with happy smile on his face. Spring was his favorite season; everyone seems just a little happier, more hopeful. Everything begins to revive all over again after the bitter winter, a celebration to making it through yet another year.
However, the main reason he liked spring this much, was because spring is when Patton comes round again. Just like he always does every first week of April.
He learned to associate his eyes with the flower buds he'd see in them, his laugh with the melting snow around them. When he thought of spring, he thought of Patton, and the thought of Patton made his chest grow warm and his lips grin.
If spring meant Patton, then spring was the best thing in the world.8:34 A.M.
Logan awoke that morning to the sun pouring into his room through a crack in the curtains. He squinted under the light, stretching his arms out over his head as he sat up groggily.
He opened his curtain more, looking out. The remaining snow shimmered under the beaming sun. The grass, finally coming back, looking soaked, but happy. The sky above him was a rich blue and cloudless, making him smile a bit. He was learning to appreciate the smaller things; if there was anything Patton thought him.
Patton.
Logan quickly rushed over to his phone and checked the date, shoving his glasses on. It was Sunday, April 1st. A smile spread on his cheeks, thinking of what's to come. His life was about to get a whole lot better, just for a little while.
He had one text.
P♡ : i hope you haven't forgotten about me
L: How could I?
P♡: i was hoping you'd say that
P♡: im landing at 11:30. see you soon, get ready for the best week of your life... again :)
L: Can't wait
L: :)9:25 A.M.
Logan, coffee in hand, wrecked his closet. What was he to wear to see the ray of sunshine on their first day together again? He settled for simple; a black collar shirt, jeans, and a jacket. He was about to put on his regular tie when he saw the bowtie Patton gave him last year.
He kept it on his desk, something to remind himself of him throughout the whole year. He had never wore it; he knew he'd get made fun of at his workplace for spicing things up. However, he wasn't going to work. He wasn't going to work for a whole week.
He grabbed the bowtie.10:32 A.M.
Late, Logan rushed out of his small house and into his car.10:33 A.M.
He pulled back into his driveway and hastily put his car in park, leaving the door open as he sprinted back into the house. He ran out with the sign he used every year on this very day tucked under his armpit.10:47 A.M.
Logan exited the flower shop, a single sunflower in his hand.11:00 A.M.
"Hi, I'd like to order one mocha, no cream, and one oreo frappuchino with added sprinkles and a dash of caramel, yes, I'm willing to pay extra."11:24 A.M.
Flower in hand, Logan sat in the crowded waiting room, checking his watch every 16 seconds. He was incredibly anxious. What if Patton had changed? After all, it's been an entire year.11:25 A.M.
No, he knew better than to overthink. Besides, it's Patton. Even if he had, he's willing to work around it.11:26 A.M.
His leg began to shake as he read his sign.
《Looking for a ray of sunshine, about 5' 7", glasses. The sky misses him.》
He smiled to himself as he remembered making the sign years ago. He always thought of Patton as a beam of sunlight, and he knew he liked cheesy sayings. He remembered how pleased and clever he felt to have combined the two.11:28 A.M.
"The 11:30 plane from Chicago has just landed."
Logan stood up, along with everyone else in the room. He took a deep breath, nerves building up in his chest.11:29 A.M.
He could barely envision what was to come for the next week of his life, which scared him. He wasn't one to go along willingly with what he didn't know.
However, Patton was teaching him that sometimes, you just have to go head first and hope you land on your feet. He was working on it, but this was a very pleasant start in his opinion.11:36 A.M.
Suddenly, a wave of people rushed into the room, the atmosphere getting louder, dragging suitcases behind them. Logan loved airports, watching the crowd and the people in them. Sometimes, he'd come and just sit, watching as people waded in and out.
Today wasn't that kind of day.
11:37 A.M.
He held up his sign as high as he could, one hand holding the sunflower behind his back. He stood patiently, knowing that Patton would come find him.11:38 A.M.
Patton's eyes glanced at Logan's sign and made a double take. His face immediately changed, joy bursting through his seams. He began to run, weaving through the crowd of people to get to the sign, and more importantly, to the person holding the sign.11:40 A.M.
"LOGAN!"
Logan looked forward when he heard his name. A ray of sunshine was running towards him, a shining smile on his face. Logan felt his nerves melt away, replaced with only happiness in his heart at the sight of him.
"Patton..." His name escaped his lips, and before you know it, Patton came crashing into Logan, arms wrapped tightly around him. Logan smiled, holding him just as tight.
"Patton..."{...}
