Chapter 15
Mavis POV

/a few days later/

Now that I'm settled in at Jeff's house, I need to talk to Grayson about where we stand in our............relationship?

I sat on my bed contemplating on whether I should call him or not. Maybe just a quick text? No. I could write him a note.

Jesus may What is this the third grade?

Fuck it, I'm texting him.

Me: Hey.......

And now we play the waiting game.
-------

Next day...........

He still hasn't texted me back and I'm growing anxious. What if he saw it and he's just ignoring it? What if he's done with me and doesn't want to deal with my crazy, stupid, fucked up life.

"You overthinking again?" Jeff nudged me as we walked through the halls of the school.

"Why hasn't he texted me back?" I looked up at him worriedly.

"May, it's football season he's probably just super busy with school work and practice" he slung his arm around my shoulder to comfort me.

"Yeah you're right" I nodded really wanting to believe him. "You're totally right, I'm just overreacting" or am I.

"What's up guys?" Ethan suddenly appeared next to us.

"What's good broski!" Jeff greeted before pulling away from me so they could do there long 'secret' handshake. I rolled my eyes at their childish act.

"Hey mavis" he flashed me a smile.

I shyly waved.

"Ah, right we're not at the talking stage yet. But all is good" he winked at me, making me blush.

"Dude, we're having this major rager tonight, you coming?" Ethan asked Jeff excitedly.

"I don't know" Jeff sighed. He looked down at me for confirmation.

"You can go I'll be fine with Ava" I mumbled, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

"I'll be there" he confirmed.

"Sick! Bring the wine coolers!" Ethan yelled before disappearing into the sea of students, to meet up with the friends.

"Jeff-"

"I know what you're going to say mavis, yes I will be careful. I won't drink and drive and I won't smoke anything" he sighed making me nod and smile.
--------

I haven't seen Grayson all day. He didn't show up at lunch because he was catching up on his homework, according to Ethan. Hopefully I'll see him Monday or some point this weekend.

"Mavis!" Avalon yelled snapping me out of my thoughts.

"S-sorry, I was thinking" I shook my head looking down.

"About what, please I need a distraction" she pleaded closing her text book jumping onto my bed.

"It's really nothing" I insisted.

"Really, I was calling your name for like 2 minutes" she gave me an amused look.

"Okay so there's this boy-"

Avalon squealed clapping her hands. "Sorry continue"

"His names Grayson-"

"Grayson Dolan!" She gasped.

"Yeah" I said a bit unsurely.

"I'm sooooo jealous right now" she squealed. I kinda regretted bringing it up Avalon was fifteen and boy obsessed so I might not ever hear the end of this.

"Crap, I'm sorry continue I won't interrupt any more."

"So we had a little thing going on before the whole family debacle. And I haven't talk to him for a few weeks. So today I wanted to talk to him about where we stand, ya know relationship wise. But I feel like he's avoiding me because he wasn't at lunch and he's not answering my texts, so I don't know what to do" I sighed.

Avalon pondered on my problem for a second.

"Have you tried calling him?" She shrugged.

"I don't want to seem desperate" I sighed.

"You won't, just call him and start a casual conversation" she insisted.

"Fine" I sighed again. "Pass me my phone"

Ava squealed before jumping out of my bed to grab my phone off of the charger.

"Here goes nothing" I dialed Grayson's number and put it on speaker.
