Chapter 6
Mavis POV

What the blonde girl said was really getting to me. I wanted to trust Grayson, I did; but I don't want to be hurt again. I've gone though so much emotional and physical pain that I don't know what or who to trust anymore.

The bell suddenly rang, and I began to panic. The doors from the classrooms opened and students began pouring out filling up the hallways.

Usually I have Jeff to guide me through the tangle of kids but now I'm by myself and I keep bumping into people. There were so many students and so much was going on.

My heart started pounding really fast and I felt like I couldn't breathe.

"You probably look like such a freak right now" the little voice in my head taunted.

"You're such a weirdo. What's wrong with you?" It continued.

I tried walking forward so I could get out of there, when I pumped into a hard figure. I fell back, my bag opening in the process making the contents spill out onto the ground.

I looked up from where I was lying to be faced with Damon.

"Well, well, well, I knew you couldn't stay away from me" Damon smirked. My breathing quickened as he stepped closer to me. I could feel the tears pooling in my eyes, this was all too much.

"Mavis!" I heard a familiar voice yell. "There you are you had me worried" Jeff kneeled next to me, and I mentally thanked god.

"Was he bothering you?" Jeff asked referring to Damon, his jaw clenching. I gave him a scared look as one of the tears slipped. If this was a cartoon smoke would be blowing out of Jeff's ears in anger.

He quickly helped me pick up my things and helped me up.

"After school, parking lot, be there" he poked Damon's chest before slinging his arm around me leading me out of the group.

We walked under the bleachers and I sat in one of the lawn chairs as Jeff kneeled in front of me holding my hands.

"What happened? And start with you and Grayson" he more so demanded than suggested. I explained everything to him, sniffling a little here and there.

"May" he sighed. "That blonde chick is Veronica blue, she's a , and I don't condone calling girls this, but she's a bitch. And she's a liar with issues, her and Grayson had a thing before and somethings happened which you should ask him cause it's not my business to tell, but don't listen to her, okay?" I nodded wiping my nose.

"I-I just don't want a repeat of Brian" I stuttered, Jeff tensed up at the name.

"I will die before I let someone like Brian near you ever again" he said in a scary/serious/guilty tone.

"Can you talk to Grayson for me?" I mumbled fiddling with his fingers.

"May" he sighed.

"Please, I don't want it to be awkward on our froyo date.... if we even have a froyo date anymore" I mumbled the last part.

"You guys have another date" he smiled.

"Yeah" I giggled. "But I think I messed it up" I whined.

"Fine I'll talk to him, but" I groaned cutting him off.

"But" he continued. "You have to talk to someone else at the lunch table"

"No" I whined.

"Mavis, you have to make other friends at some point" he sighed.

"Aren't you enough?" I smiled cupping his cheeks.

"Flattery isn't going to work" he gave me a smirk. I crossed my arms pouting.

"Fine" I sighed.
