One day while Sammy was opening her locker a piece of paper falls down, it said “meet me at the football field at lunch time, make sure you came alone”. She didn’t know who it was from but at lunch she got all her stuff and went to the football field. When she got there she saw D’andre running around the field. She went to him and asks him “did you put a note in my locker”
He said “I sure did”
“Well why you wanted me to meet you here”
“I want to ask you something”
“Okay, go ahead”
“Do you want to go to a date with me?”
Sammy thought about this for a minute and then say “sure but when”
“This Friday night” he said
“Okay, I be waiting for you, I got to go do some homework so I talk to you later bye”
“Bye Sammy”
On Thursday, Sammy told Mrs. Flores about the date and she say that it was ok for her to go. Mrs. Flores help her choose the best clothes she had so she could wear it on Friday. On Friday when she got to school she found another note in her locker that says “I pick you up at 5 o’clock”
Sammy was so happy about her first date that when she got home she quickly got ready and wait for D’andre. When he got to her house he got out of his car and went to the ring the bell. Mrs. Flores opens the door and says “Well, you must be D’andre”
“Yes ma’am, I come to get Samantha”
“She be here in a minute” Mrs. Flores says and went to get Sammy. She came out of the room and went to the door.
“Hey” she said
“Hey, you look beautiful”
“Thank you” she said
“So should we get going “
“Yes” she said and then turns around and said to Mrs. Flores “I be back at 9 o’clock”
“Okay, take care of her young men” Mrs. Flores said
“I sure will Mrs. Flores” said D’andre
They went to eat at a McDonalds and then went to the movies. When they finish taking about themselves they went back to Sammy’s house. When D’andre parked the car he said “it was really nice being with you, I had a lot of fun”
“I did too, thank you for taking me” said Sammy
“There’s still one more question I want to ask you” he said
“Okay go for it”
“I want to ask you if you want to be my girlfriend”
Without thinking it Sammy said “of course”
Then D’andre took her back the house. She was so happy that that night she could not sleep.
And from then on Sammy had a boyfriend. On Monday when the school was over D’andre hug her and told her bye. When she got home she told her new mom everything that had happened to her on her day of school.
The next day D’andre was waiting for her at the door of the school.
“Good morning” he said with a smile
“Good morning D” she said
“We have ten minutes before classes start so I want to show you something before they start, do you want to see it?”
“Of course I want to see it let’s go” she said
They run to the gym as fast as they could, when they got there he took her to a closet.
“We here, do you see this closet is where I wrote your name and mine so we can stay together for a long time” he say
“This is so cool thank you, I love you” it was her first time she ever say those words.
D’andre got closer to her and put his hand on her waist as he did that he brought her closer to him. Then she too got closer at last they were inches apart from each other. He put his hand on her head and moves it toward his. Then he kisses her softly but then he felt a type of feeling he could not describe, and kiss her again. She too could not stop kissing him. At last they separate from each other.
“I love you Sammy” he say
“I love you more” she says
Having that say they run to their first period class.
Sammy could not stop thinking about the kiss all day long and when she got to lunch she told her friends about the date and the kiss that morning. They all were happy for her because D’andre never was with the same girl for as long as he and Sammy had last so far. In the days to follow Sammy make sure to be good to D’andre so that he wouldn’t break up with her, but she saw something in him that told her that he really love her and that she will never let her go just like that. The next Saturday Sammy and her friends went shopping, they bought clothes and jewelry. It was the next week that notice that none of her friends were poor and that all their parents were rich in some way. They thought that she was rich too and that she was part of them. One day when she got out of school she saw that on the other side of the town other kids were also getting out of school so she decide to ask her friend Bella if that was the elementary school or something.
“No that’s the high school for the people who don’t have enough money to pay for their children to come to this school, they was more free stuff over there but my dad doesn’t care all he wants in for me and my brother to have a good education and to have the best school” say Bella
“So how much our parents paying for us to go to this school?” ask Sammy
“I don’t really know but is not that much, is only that the poor people can’t effort it, I really wish I could help them” say Bella
“Me too” say Sammy as they walk home, when she got home she talk to Mrs. Flores about the poor children.
“Why you send me to the school where rich children go?” she ask Mrs. Flores
“I just want the best for you and I don’t know anyone from the other high school” say
Mrs. Flores
“And how is it different from the school I go to?”
“The other school don’t give you free lunch, they don’t have clean bathrooms and the teachers don’t care if you do your work or if you fail the class” say Mrs. Flores
“How you know all that?” ask Sammy
“I went there for my freshmen year and it was bad, I had to beg my parents so they could change me to another school. They send me on that high school because they wanted to save money but at last they had to move me to the other school”
“Ok now I get it, but I wish they could get the same stuff we have” say Sammy
“So do I but some things you just can’t change” say Mrs. Flores that was the last thing they say about the other school.
