Once upon a time in a Village in the lands of Olympus Annabeth Chase was walking to the library to drop off her book and pick up a new book one, just like she did everyday. Her curly blonde hair was tied in a blue ribbon. She was wearing her favorite blue dress with her white apron. As she walked she could hear the whispers and snickers from the other village girls.
"What is she wearing?"
"She's so ugly!"
"How does Luke take a liking towards her?"
"A pure cumberground, hiding her nose behind a book everyday."
"No wonder her mother died."
"She probably took her own life because she had to live with that Urchin."
Annabeth usually ignored the voices, but this was the last straw for our heroine. No one insulted her mother and got away with it.
"You absolute dunces!" She growled, dropping her basket and marching towards the foul-mouthed girl who uttered the last insult.
She grabbed the arm of the young woman and flipped her over, pinning her elbow on her throat. She read enough about Judo-Flips from foreign books to know how to use it for self defense. The look of horror on the crying girl's face was enough to snap Annabeth out of her rage.
"Leave." Is all she managed to get out.
The group of girls ran away in record time. She continued her walk, picking up her basket and book when she bumped into the last person she wanted to see.
"Hello Annabeth." Smiled Luke.
"Bonjour." She fake-smiled.
Annabeth was hiding her true disgust and hatred towards this man through it. She couldn't stand the sight of him. His blonde hair was tied back, per usual. He wore his red shirt that was torn at the seams of his chest, fastened with a belt beat his waist. His riding pants were tucked into his black boots. Luke's muscles were bulging out of his shirt sleeves. She tried to move to get away from Luke, when he moved to block her path.
"Excuse me." She grumbled, starting to get angry.
"What you did back there, was amazing. I admire a girl with a spirit of fire." He winked.
"I've already told you what I think of you. Leave, and chose another girl to rouse." She rolled her eyes.
"You're not getting away from me that easy." He smirked, and plucked Annabeth's copy of The Iliad out of her arm.
"Luke, may I please have my book back?" Annabeth said through gritted teeth. She wasn't tall enough to snatch her book back, so she politely held her hand out.
Luke fanned the pages. He looked at the book skeptically.
"How do you read this?" He asked in disgust. "There aren't any pictures, just words."
"Well, there's this thing called imagination, you see." Annabeth snapped. "And people with some sort of brain use that technique."
"Annabeth, it's about time you get your nose out of your books and pay attention to more important things." Luke gestured to himself.
"Ugh." Annabeth tried to walk away, yet again Luke blocked her path.
"The whole towns talking about it. It's not right for a woman to read. Soon she starts getting ideas and... Thinking!" He said stated with disgust.
"Thinking! Since when was that a horrid thing to do? You're head seems too thick to be able to comprehend the concept that women aren't objects. We have minds, and it's about time we put it to use! Luke, you are positively primeval!" Annabeth stated angrily.
"Why thank you, Annabeth. How about me and you go grab something to eat, and while we're at it, we can look at all my trophies." He smiled.
"How about no." Annabeth stated.
With this distraction Annabeth snatched her book away from Luke. She began to walk back towards the library, ignoring him.
Luke shook his head in Annabeth's direction.
"Well, that didn't go as planned." Said Will popping out of the bushes.
"I must have her." Luke said. "She's the lucky girl I'm going to marry!"
"But she's-" Will started.
"-The most beautiful girl in town." Luke finished.
"I know but-"
"That makes her the best, and don't I deserve the best?" Luke raised his eyebrows.
"Of course." Will muttered.
