(A/N) This is kind of going to be how Ray gets into the academy, then the rest of the chapters will be around him and his friends in class + other exciting stuff...
------------------------------------------------------------

He was walking through the dense, dark woods on the outskirts of the Seridegan. Forcing himself through the dense foliage, making little progress to get to his destination. He had only visited this area four times including today, each time on the same day, same month, of each year.
He was walking in the direction of his mother's grave, something he had hidden in the woods for what he knew that the local gravediggers within the city would dig up her coffin to steal everything of value. He walked through to a clearing that he had been looking for the past hour and a half. The tombstone was still the same, saying, "Rayna Tercera, loving wife and mother." He walked to her grave, and suddenly, just like any other time he visited his mother, he started to have flashbacks.
                                                                                              Flashback - Start
"Hey mommy! What is that thing strapped to your waist?" Ray's mother looked at her son for a brief second and smiled before giving her answer.
"Ray, this is a kusanagi, almost all Senshi have them. It's a representation of one of our core powers." Ray gaped in amazement and asked his mother yet another question.
"What are the core powers of a Senshi mom?" Rayna's son looked up at her with a new found fascination, so she couldnt deny answering his question. "There are three 'organs' that make up a Senshi's power; the soul sphere, the mental sphere, and the body. If you want to know more, you'll have to train to become a Senshi." Ray looked up into his mother's eyes, steeling them with resolve, making sure his mother knew he meant what this eight year old was about to say. "Mom, I want to become a powerful Senshi, so I can protect you and my friends! I've seen the beasts out there, with the white masks, and I want to help get rid of them!" Ray's mother looked shocked for a brief moment, but then collected herself.
"Ray, if you are sure this is what you want to do, I will teach you, how does that sound?"
Ray looked at his mother, thankful that she would train him.
                                                                                               Flashback - End
Ray walked away from the tombstone of his mother, tears dropping from his eyes.
He had this feeling in his heart since she died, this endless aching as if someone was trying to pull it apart. Through the four years of training his mother had been able to give him before she died, he had realized there were levels to the 'organs'. A level one soul sphere couldnt contain as much spirit energy as a level two soul sphere, just as a level one body would take more damage than a level two, and a person with a level two mental sphere had much higher cognitive abilities. A level two soul sphere could also put you into communication with your kusanagi. Other than the organs, there were elements, and each person had one element. Usually, technique a Senshi used would be based off their element, but there were some techniques that weren't based on element. Ray used the high-speed technique that he had come to know as Viento, one such technique that didnt require an element, and tried getting to his house before he goes unconscious from exhaustion, flashbacks always drained him. He got home, ate a small snack, and was about to go to his room when he heard a sound outside his door. Approaching  the door slowly and quietly, he looked out the out the door viewer.
To see two people outside his door.

The sound of tea being poured into a glass mug filled the house, pouring three, one for himself and the other two for the guests. He was surprised to say the least, that the headmaster of the Shino academy was right before him, with the head instructor as well.
He sat down on his black leather couch, and he chose to speak.

"Sorry to seem rude, I would just like to know, what would the Head Instructor and Headmaster of Shino Academy be doing at my house, so late at night as well?"

The Instructor and Headmaster looked at each other calmly, and spoke in unison, "Mr. Cuarto, we wanted to check on you since your mother died four years ago, and more importantly assess if you are ready to enter the Shinso Academy."
Ray's eyes widened to the size of saucers, and then done his best to calm down.
He looked at the Headmaster and Instructor, and asked "What would I have to do to get into the Shinso academy?" The Headmaster answered, "Ray, you would have to be able to manipulate your spirit energy into a ball in the palm of your hand, a show of decent spirit energy control, and not just pure strength of a soul sphere. Do not worry if you fail this, as you will be taught it more in class, but this gives us an idea on where to put you in your classed, advanced or normal. You will also summon your kusanagi, a Shinso's most deadly tool, but also their greatest friend, as they come from apart of your soul. You will also need a level two body to be able to survive the academy. The last test will be your combat skill and endurance. If you can fight the academy dummies for ten seconds, then you will have officially passed the combat skill and endurance tests."
Ray looked at the two guests in his house, and spoke, putting as much resolve into his voice as he could. "I have a level three body, so there is no worry there. So, when do we start, I want to get these tests done as soon as possible." The two academy staff members looked at each other incredulously. Having a level three body by twelve years old was almost unheard of!
