You were waiting for your friend to turn up in town. They were supposed to have met you 10 minutes ago but they were yet to show up, and they weren't answering any of your calls. You stood patiently, stopping every now and then to call them. Alas, after another five minutes there was no answer and you were starting to get fed up of waiting.
You decided to go and sit down on a bench to wait, it was a really cold day so you pulled your coat around yourself tighter. Your mind started to wander until a familiar voice was heard shook your from your daydream.
"Y/N? Gosh! I haven't seen you in ages!" You looked up and stared into a pair of beautiful brown eyes. His face lit up as you made eye contact.
"Taehyung?" You exclaimed happily, getting to your feet. "Hey! How are you? What...what are you doing here?" You pulled him in for a long hug, taking in his scent which took you back to your childhood. You and him had been friends since school, you had grown up on the same street together.
"I'm back on a break, just visiting family...I see you still live here." He half smiled, looking right at you.
"Yeah...I mean...not that I don't want to leave but, I feel like somethings always keeping me here." You replied, nervously pushing your hair out of your face. Taehyung gave you a sympathetic look and then burst into a smile.
"Are you busy, right now? We could go get coffee. There are so many things I want to tell you about." His eyes lit up excitedly as he spoke and you wanted nothing more than to go with him, but you felt bad on your friend in case they did turn up.
"Oh. Tae I would love to. But I'm actually meeting my friend. Well I was supposed to meet them they are very late..." you saw his face drop in disappointment so you decided to look away. "How about tomorrow?" You offered.
"I fly back to Seoul 8am tomorrow..."
"So it's your last night here? Don't you have better people to be spending that with?!" You exclaimed, furrowing your brow.
"I can't think of any better company than an old friend..." he looked at the ground shyly. You smiled and looked away, this was everything you could have wanted, but you couldn't have it.
"I'm sorry, I would just feel bad if they showed up and I wasn't here."
"No worries! I'll see you next time I'm sure?" He threw his arms around you planting a soft kiss on your cheek.
"Of course Tae, you can count on it." You smiled, not wanting him to let go of your shoulders. He nodded and said his goodbyes before turning away.
20 minutes later you were still standing around waiting for your friend. They had still not shown up to meet you and the night was getting colder and colder. Eventually they texted you to say they had fallen asleep and forgotten about your plans.
You stalked off from the bench where you were sat and headed towards the train station for home. An empty feeling started to ripple through your body, pricking tears in your eyes and rolling down your cheeks. You hated being let down, because you knew you'd never let anyone else down either. You wiped away at your face ashamedly, hoping that no one was around to notice. You closed your eyes as more tears fell until you were startled by someone shouting your name.
"Y/N?!" You looked up to see Taehyung running towards you, his face struck with panic. "Y/N are you sad? What happened?!" He grabbed you by the shoulders so forcefully you thought you might have fallen over.
"I'm just being stupid, my friend stood me up." You said, sniffling and wiping away your tears. Tae made a sad face before pulling you back into a hug. His arms were wrapped around you so tight, he started to stroke your hair to comfort you.
"I'm so sorry someone did this to you. You deserve so much better." He told you, tilting up your chin. You moved your face with embarrassment - you didn't even let your family see you cry. Never mind your childhood friend now international pop star. He smiled understandingly at you.
"Thank you," You said strongly, moving away and holding your head up high.
"Let me make sure that you get home ok. I'll walk you." He said sweetly, hooking his arm with yours and planting a kiss on the side of your head.
"Maybe we could have that catch up along the way as well?" You said softly, resting your head on his shoulder. Taehyung smiled, squeezing your arm tightly. He was almost sad that he knew he was going to have to leave you all over again in the morning.
