Lucas and Marcus stumbled out of the club, laughing at something. As soon as they got out both of them stopped to breathe.
"Yo, you good, Lucas?" Marcus asked and put a hand on his brother's back.
Lucas nodded, but was standing with his hands on his knees. "Just gets so stuffy in there."
Marcus and Lucas weren't just brothers, they were identical twins. One major difference was that while Marcus had curly hair, Lucas' was completely straight. Neither of them knew why, but they didn't care either. They were rather athletically built as they'd grown up doing gymnastics, playing basketball and dancing. Though not nearly as flexible as their mother who was a world famous gymnastics champion from Romania.
They smiled at each other, revealing Marcus' dimples. "I'll go fetch some water", he said and crossed the road to a convenience store.
Lucas waited patiently, leaning up against the brick building. When he saw Marcus exit the store he took a step forward to meet him, when a van suddenly stopped in front of him. Lucas managed to quickly react and turn to run away, but the guys in the van were too fast. They just opened the door and grabbed Lucas by whatever they could, while he was now screaming. Mixed yelps of "help" and "Marcus". Lucas was kicking and throwing punches, but it was two against one and they had soon restrained him and put a gag in his mouth.
On the other side of the street Marcus had also froze in his tracks. But when he heard Lucas screaming, he started running. He called Lucas' name as the van drove off before his eyes.
But Lucas wasn't there when it had disappeared.
Marcus didn't know what to do. He felt like someone had ripped off half of him. Tears started falling and his knees gave way. He just stared at the ground where Lucas should be, with his mouth hanging ajar.
After some time two other guys stumbled out of the club's backdoor. When they spotted Marcus kneeling on the ground their smiles faded and they ran over. The guys were Marcus' older brothers; Darius and Cyrus.
They shook him, but his mind was in a twist far away. They said his name over and over, but to no avail.
"Marcus, what happened? Where's Lucas?" Cyrus forced Marcus to look at him.
"They.." Marcus breathed with a new wave of tears creeping up. "They took him."
Darius and Cyrus exchanged looks. "Who took him? Who? Marcus, who took Lucas?"
But Marcus slowly shook his head. "I.. I don't know. A van.. a black van.. it stopped.. then Lucas wasn't there.."
They thought it was a prank since their brothers would always joke with them, but seeing Marcus' face and the lack of a camera around made them panic.
Cyrus whipped out his phone and dialled 911. Within minutes, the police had arrived. Sadly Cyrus and Darius couldn't give them more information than that their brother was gone and Marcus was too broken to talk.
A female cop tried over and over to get some words out of him, but he just mumbled incoherently and stared blankly.
"Yeah, he's 5'8 tall, looks exactly like his twin over there", Darius pointed at Marcus, "except he has straight hair."
A cop was scribbling everything on a notepad. There was now a crowd from all the people who wanted to see what the ruckus was about when police arrived.
Cyrus took Marcus into his arms and tried to soothe him. "We're gonna find him, don't worry. I called mum and dad, they're on the next flight over."
Marcus stopped mumbling, but was still just staring ahead with new tears streaming down his cheeks. Cyrus and Darius almost had to carry him to the police car that was gonna escort them home as his legs wasn't carrying him and he didn't wanna leave the place in case Lucas would magically show up.
In the car though he was sitting still until he passed out from exhaustion.
