Ava's Pov
I ran up the stairs as fast as I could, trying my hardest to make it up to my room.
He followed not far behind.
I got to my door and opened it fast, entering my room as fast as I could. I slammed the door shut, locking it so he wouldn't be able to get in my room.
He started banging on the door, "OPEN THE GOD DAMN DOOR BEFORE I OPEN IT MYSELF!" He screamed at me.
I then looked around my room.
'I am so done with this.' I thought to myself.
I looked at my window.
Wouldn't be the first time I jumped out of the window. I opened my window, instantly looking down at the ground below me.
'That's a far jump...'
I got so distracted I didn't even realize that he came in. He pulled me back by my hair, yanking me to the ground. Hard.
I was starting to feel light headed as my vision blurred. I try and clear my vision up a little by blinking. When I reopened my eyes, I was that he had his hand up, about to hit me.
I wait for more pain to show up, but nothing comes.
That's when I heard a yell. The yell was not too far away, but rather close.
I sat up, after realizing he ran out my door after the yell, and looked out the window.
"Hey! Ava! Are you okay!?" My neighbor asked through his window.
My neighbor was a boy, who was sixteen years old. His name was Caine. I didn't know much about him, just that he had a younger sister and even younger brother. His sister and brother live at their parents house while Caine lives at his uncle's.
Caine was always nice to me, he always gave me food and his sister's sweaters, which were always one size too big for me, knowing I couldn't afford anything.
"Ava! Are you okay?" Caine asked me again, but it was too late. I eventually passed out, letting the darkness consume me, finally feeling relaxed.
_______________
I opened my eyes with a blurred vision. Again.
I heard yelling and sirens. I couldn't see a thing. I felt that I was laying down and being moved. I smelt something strong, like burning and smoke.
I blinked quite a few times, trying to clear my vision so I could see what was going on.
A whole lot of pain shot through my right arm. I squeezed my eyes shut, hoping the pain would go away.
Out of all the yelling, I heard a familiar voice tell me, "You're gonna be just fine. You're okay. Just hold on a little longer. I got you. You'll be safe soon."
I blinked a few more times and I could finally see better. The person who was talking to me was Caine. He kept saying "you're okay" "you're gonna be okay", but I knew I was not.
I looked around to see what was happening. On my right, I saw a big, bright fire. The fire was in a house. But not just a random house. It was my house.
I still heard sirens, and there was more yelling. I look to the left of me and see police cars. Someone was trying to get out of two officers grips. It was him. He was shoved into a cop car, uninjured.
