Chase's pov

I was so happy that Ava was now okay to even go back to class. But, I have to admit... When Emilio came in the bathroom to meet us, I was a little scared and nervous he'd tell me to stay away from Ava for some reason. I don't know, I was just paranoid I guess.

_______________

We decided to stay in the bathroom a little longer, just until the bell rang. I didn't want people to say anything about us, and there were only a few minutes left of the period anyway.

The bell rang and our next class was English class, which I kind of hated but it's whatever.

We got out the bathroom super quick, making sure no one would see us, and went to our lockers.

I put in my combination in to open my locker, I was surprised I didn't mess it up. Once I opened I shoved everything in my locker. I glanced at Ava, to make sure she was okay and nothing happened, even though it had only been seconds after we parted ways. I looked back into my locker quickly and gabbed out my English class binder.

I rushed over to Ava's locker. "And I'm back, did you miss me!?" I said, jokingly as she laughed.

We walked to English class. When we got in the room, Ava sat more towards the back, but not too far back, and I sat down next to her.

_______________

The class went on, we discussed the book we were reading called Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys, which was about four people named: Joana, Florian, Emilia, and Alfred. They were from the Holocaust in World War II, all different ethnicities, trying to survive... Or something like that. I didn't really like reading. Like, at all.

I was next to Ava at a desk, which was kind of like a table but smaller and for two or three people, as usual.

_______________

We were finally done discussing the book and it was time to read the next few chapters to ourselves, independently.

Read independently my as*, this class sucks. I thought to myself.

Everyone was really quiet, reading. And then there was me: I just kept glancing over at Ava as she started to read.

She caught me staring at her a couple of times. I then looked at her one more time, and she looked up at me. She scooted her chair closer to me and hugged my arm and just held it, making sure no one was looking. My heart beat speed up a lot, as my stomach was about to burst with the butterflies I felt.

She is so f*cking cute. She's precious.

She sat with me in that position as she read. I read off her book since I 'forgot my book at home', which wasn't true at all. I just wanted to be closer to Ava. Nothing bad.

The bell rang got out of the classroom, eager to get to our next class.

________________

It was now lunch time.

Everyone has gotten their lunch and has settled down into their seats.

I was about to talk to Ava when this guy, Nick Gawski, and his friend, Jax Manson, went behind Ava.

I was about to get out of my seat to see what the h*ll they were doing, and I see if I'd need to punch them or something. That's when Nick tapped Ava on the shoulder.

Ava saw that I was about to get up, but turned around, facing Nick and Jax anyway. "Hey, Ava." Nick said, nicely to her, as if he knew her, which he didn't.
