Author's POV
"Uh.."

They were actually here.
Sitting at a human restaurant.

Having a date.
'Oh my god. This is legitimately happening.'
Sans gulped, turning away from the food on the table and looking at Papyrus. Papyrus was grinning from fictional ear to ear, the sparkle in his eyes brightly shining from glee.

They had ended up at a random restaurant in the surface after half an hour of trying to pick where to eat.

Papyrus has invited Sans to a date, since, according to him, he loved Sans and wanted a chance to be his 'husbando.' (Sans is pretty sure he learned that words from Alphys and Undyne, and he reminds himself to scold them later.)
Sans, being someone who can't resist the urge to spoil his baby brother, reluctantly agreed; embarrassed at first, but Papyrus assured him that it'll be fine.
Sans actually tried to dress for once, wearing some jeans and instead of his blue fur lined (dirty) jacket. And he decided to buy some hew clothes; A dark blue hoodie. Nothing special, since Papyrus planned to go in his signature battle body.
After a solid five and a half minutes of silence, Papyrus was the first one to speak up in a normal octave, which surprised Sans; since he always yelled his words like the  superheroes he watches on television.

"Sans! Thank you for coming with me on this date! Nyeh heh! I knew I was irresistible; even to my own brother!"

Sans gave a chuckle, evidently flushing at the word 'date'. "Aww. No need for the formalities, bro."
Papyrus blushed, darting his eyes away and giving a cough to try breaking the awkwardness.
Sans, trying to desperately ignore the tension growing, focused on little details he suddenly found interesting.

The restaurant was..
Fancy.
Rich, even.

It looked more flashy and glamorous than the MTT resort down in the underground with all the people dressed in tuxes and dresses.
Sans realized that what he and Papyrus were wearing, if you compared it to the majority of the crowd, they looked silly.

Sans' embarrassment heightened.

Papyrus was looking around as well, unaware of the heavy atmosphere around them.
He too, felt silly in his battle armor.
(Maybe he was really growing up. Sans had taken note of the fact he uses his indoor voice now, along with his childish traits loosening.)

Papyrus felt Sans' concern, and frowned a bit.
He needed to make Sans relax, seeing his brother was tense on his seat, occasionally glancing at the other people watching them because of how underdressed they were.
His arms were stiff on the table, untouched food getting cold in his plate.

Papyrus acted.

"Sans.."

Papyrus slipped Sans' small hands into his, squeezing it.

"Do you want to get out of here?"
Sans looked at Papyrus incredulously,  an eyebrow raised as if to argue.

"But the food.. It was expensive-"
Papyrus gave Sans' hand another squeeze, a genuine soft smile on his face. "It's okay. I'm not really enjoying myself here. Come on. I know a better place."

———

"Papyrus.. You didn't have to-"

"Shh, Sans. Look."

Papyrus pointed up to the sky, smiling.

They were in an open field, the sky visible without all the smoke and smog for the city.
The stars winked and twinkled, the blue sky had a mix of purple, along with the bright moon.

Sans' pinpricks sparkled, sitting next to Papyrus on a grassy area and leaning on him.
He always had a fascination with the galaxies, stars, and all sorts of thing in the outer space.

So Papyrus brought him here.

"I-it's so.. Cool.."

Sans' voice cooed, barely above a whisper. Amused, Papyrus wrapped his arms around Sans, giving a warm smile.

"Do you like it here brother?"

"Yeah.. Thanks Paps. You're the coolest."
