-WARNING//: GORE-

The next morning, the two friends woke up quite slowly yet, simultaneously. Through the night they both tossed and turned several times until they wound up the usual couple sleeping position: Penny lying on her side, her leg draped over his with her head and hand resting on his chest and Xavier laying on his back with his arm wrapped around Pen's upper body.

"Um, good morning." Xavier grinned, his face already turning pink due to the sight of his beautiful friend lying upon his chest.

"Morning." She responded, cuddling closer to him if that was even possible.

"You okay?" Xavier chuckled, attempting to look her in her face.

"Yes, silly." Penelope giggled as she sat up from her friend. She immediately looked out of the opening of the hut to look for the baby sloth who lied just a few feet away as he managed to crawl away. She stood and walked over to where it was and picked it up gently. To her surprise, the animal snuggled against her with it's eyes closed as if he was fairly comfortable.

"So, what are you going to name it?" Xavier asked, digging through his bag for his small bottle of Listerine™.

"Mo." Pen answered as she smiled, looking down at the small creature.

"Mo?" Vie questioned before swooshing the mouthwash around in his mouth.

"Short for Slow-Mo, and it's unisex considering I'm not one hundred percent sure of it's gender." She giggled, holding he animal along her hip like a human baby.

"I like it." He mumbled after he spit out the mouthwash a little ways from the tent.

"So, I was thinking." Nel said. "We should explore some more of the island. Who knows, maybe we can find a washed up radio or something." She giggled.

"Or we could find ourselves in grave danger." Xavier crossed his arms.

"Come on. We can't just sit her until someone comes, Vie. We could possibly even find some fruit or a fresh water reserve. These few bottles of water aren't going to last us long." She wrapped the holster she made for carrying things around herself and softly placed Mo inside. She grabbed her bag and motioned for Xavier to come along. He sighed, but as he always did, he listened to Penny. He grabbed his bag and through it over his shoulders.

They walked for about 4 hours before they stumbled upon a cave.

"I'm not going in there." Xavier stated, turning his back to the cave entrance and attempting to walk away. Penny grabbed ahold of his shoulder and basically forced him to enter the cave with her. She grabbed a staff like stick from beside the cave opening, she applied some hand sanitizer around the tip of it and lit fire upon it with a match from her duffel bag.

"Here goes nothing." She gulped. Xavier grasped ahold to her hand tightly as they took half steps into the unknown.

They were about a mile deep within the cave before they heard constant dripping of some liquid. Their hypothesis came to that it could possibly be a water reserve. They followed the noise of the constant dripping until they reached it. There lied the unthinkable.

Penelope flared her nostrils, inhaling and exhaling. Xavier turned his back to their discovery and began to vomit profusely. The sight of the deceased wildlife hanging from the caves ceiling made Nel's skin crawl, sending goosebumps down her spine as she walked towards it. Her shoes gushing within the fallen blood of the deer and foxes.

"Penelope! GET OVER HERE!" Xavier demanded. Penny didn't listen, she continued walking through the mass bloodbath, maneuvering around the sudden droplets of plasma that began to fall overhead. She walked through it successfully to make sure that the other side was safe. She motioned for Xavier to join her on the other side of the murder grounds. He disagreed. After nearly 20 minutes of debating, he ran through, nearly slipping in the mess. He hyperventilated once he reached where she stood.

"What the hell, Penelope?!" He yelled. Penny stopped in her tracks once she heard the sound of ruffling leaves. "What the fuck is wrong with you?!" He yelled once again. Penelope through the stick they were using to guide the way across to the other side of the cave before pulling Xavier by his shirt, covering his mouth as she pulled them in the shadows. He mumbled against her hand as if he wanted to speak. She whispered into his ear: shhh. I think someone's coming. She heard his deep gulp.

Penelope being the half vampire she is, she used her night vision abilities to investigate their surroundings. Before she knew it, there was a shadowy figure towering over Xavier and her. The figure sniffed along the side of Penelope's neck as she hyperventilated along with Xavier. The creature then turned to Vie and began to sniff him also.

"Come into the light." The bass filled masculine voice demanded softly. The duo did as they were told, Penelope softly grabbed the staff from the other side of the "man" and gently handed it to him. "Who are you?" He questioned. His shoulders rolled forward, his nostrils retracting with each inhale.

"I- I-." Xavier stuttered.

"TELL ME WHO YOU ARE!" The man roared loudly, the bass in his voice startled the bats deeper within the cave.

"I'm Nel Diaz. Th- This is Vie Vance." She said. The man held the stick above his head to get a better look of their faces. He turned his head to the side at the sight of Penelope. Within seconds, he dropped the stick and charged at her, pinning her to the nearby wall and sniffing all of her once again.

"Leave her alone!" Xavier demanded, swatting the flames towards the man. He slowly rose from Penelope and tackled Xavier.

He hit the ground hard as the seven shoot man sat on top of him. He flared his sharp canine teeth over Xavier's head, salivating all of his face. His back and arm muscles pulsating as he raised his long clawed hand above his head.

"Get out of here, Nel." He slightly whispered. Penelope refused. She removed the wrap that withheld Mo and placed it gently on the ground. Her eyes grew matte black and she let out a loud shriek before her fangs released from her gums. The veins around her eyes and mouth became a dark purple and were visible from the outside. Her body stretched, making her almost 6"5. She then tackled the man from on top of Vie, he scrambled away as he spectated the fight between his best friend and this man.

"Go." Penelope demanded to Xavier. He shook his head in fear. Although he was terrified of the sight of her, he didn't want to leave her. "Do what I said and Go!" She yelled before letting out yet another high pitch scream, disrupting the man and causing him to groan in pain and cup his ears.

Xavier shed tears as he ran back through the hanging animals and reached the front of the cave where they entered. He slid down the side of it and cried into his knees.

Well, this chapter wasn't necessarily the best but hey, I tried rewriting it twice and it didn't work out very well so I hope this is okay and up to standards.
