Ying and Yang: A HTTYD Fan Fiction

Chapter One

A/N: A lightfury is a dragon I made up. It is a Nightfury, except for the fact that it is white and shoots orange plasma blasts. Basically it's a Nightfury with inverted colors. i.e. Orange fire, white scales, and pink eyes.

*Kari's POV*

I sat up from my sleep with a jolt, feeling surprisingly cheerful. Today would be a good day, I could feel it. The forest was alive and all the Dragons seemed happy enough. I hopped down from the tree I was sleeping in and jogged over to the nest of a white dragon, my dragon.

"Star, wake up." I lightly shook my companion lightly and she shot up.

"There is another!" Whispered Stargazer.

"Another Nightfury?" I asked looking around the forest where dragons had gathered to listen to our conversation.

"Yes! He visited me in a dream! And the best part is...he's an alpha too!"

"Another alpha?" I questioned.

"Yes! Let us fly!" Stargazer shouted, fluorescent orange flecks appearing on her face and along her spine. Thin iridescent scales protruded from her back.

"When then those appear?" I asked, pointing to the scales.

"Toothless, the Nightfury found a point on my neck that makes them protrude. Now hop on." I swung myself onto Star's back and we took off, hundreds of dragons following.

"You must tell me about it!" I said, excitedly. Wow...another Nightfury...

While Stargazer was explaining I was scouting for a good river. There. I had spotted one. It was a crystalline blue color with tons of fish leaping out.

"He said he was from somewhere called Berk and-"

"Sorry to interrupt, but I found a river."

"Oh ok...And you give the call." Star looked down at the river of choice, licking her lips.

"Fly and follow!" I shouted in dragonese. I was their alpha as much as Star, and they accepted me for it.

"That looks great!" Said Flamedancer, an adolscent Monstrous Nightmare, our friend, and Star's successor.

"Thanks." I replied.

"Hold on!" Said Star, whipping down in a spiral towards the river. She snagged a fish with the other dragons not far behind.

"Flame, I need a favor." Star directed and the Nightmare. A favor? Star and I had never discussed this.

"Anything for the alpha."

"I need you to look after the colony for a couple of weeks."

"WHAT?" Flame and I shouted simultaneously.

"Please...." Said Star. "There is another Nightfury out there and I must meet him."

Oh, well I guess we DID need to go find this Toothless character.

"Well..." Flame thought it over for a minute.

"I'd be delighted!" She did a fancy loop in the air and caught another fish.

"I'd be here to teach you the basics and all of that and the dragons will support you, since you're my successor and all." Star continued.

"But do you really think I can do it?" Asked Flame.

"Of course!" Star and I both said.

Flame glanced at both of us then did another little air-loop, grinning from ear-to-ear. "Can I please give the command?"

Star and I exchanged a look, both of up grinning as well. "it's your call!"

"Fly and return to the forest!" Yelled Flame. The three of us flew to the head of the group and we set off for our home.

This would be a dangerous journey, but it would be worth it. I had to do this for Flame. And maybe, for once, I could meet another human....Someone like me...
