Sveta's POV
My life sucks right now. Due to my dad's job amd the need for better transportation I had to move from the beauty of Park Slope to the crime-ridden Brownsville.
4 hours later
We pack up the stuff and I help put away the dishes. My little brother Ivan runs downstairs to jump on my back.
"Sveta!" Ivan yells so happy to see me as if he hasn't seen me in months
" Hey Ivan , how are you doing?"I ask
" Bad because you promise you would play Super Mario Brothers with me but you didn't " Ivan crosses his arms.
" Ivan leave me alone please" Sveta says
" Ugh fine. Excuse me for wanting to hang out with the only likable person in this family"says Ivan

Sophia tries to enroll my brother and I in school. Some people think its weird I call my "mom" by her name Sophia. I just don't consider her my mother . She will never be my mother .
"Sveta you will attend John L. Wilkins High School starting Monday"Sophia tells me
"Whatever Sophia" I reply
"When will you refer to me as mom"Sophia asks
"When I see you as a mother but for now you are Sophia" I respond
"Sveta are you okay?" Sophia asks
"Of f**king course I am. I just had to move to an impoverished area where no one is "like me" as she points to the Russian flag. Leave me alone Sophia

Karina's POV
Today starts with English which is cool for me .
"Excuse me,Karina will you.please allow our new student to sit next to you?" said Mr. Saleh
"Sure"I respond
"Hey what is your name?"I ask
"Sveta(S-vay-tah)"she replies
"I'm Karina but sometimes people call me Kari(Car-e)"
Skips to lunch
I see Sveta in the corner and I barely have any friends so I walk over to talk to her. As usual the conversation lasts 3 minutes and then I can't think of anything to say anymore.
Sveta's POV
Well this girl trying to talk to me seems nice and she's the only one that cared.
I miss my old school where people looked like me(meaning whites and other Russians) that sucks .
"Hey don't feel intimidated cuz its a new school. Pretty much the same rules apply unless you came from one of them rich white neighborhoods"says Karina.
"Thx"I respond
