A/N Okays me sweet readers. I am updating early this time. Had some time to kill!!! Hope you enjoy. Last chapter was just a filler. :D
I sat outside the prison hall for what seems like ages. Wanting to know what they had found out. I wasn't the only one lingering. There was a group of us out there wanting to know something. They were threatening our lives and it wasn't going to make any of us feel better just having one of them locked up. Rogues had no one to answer to and they lived by their own rules.
Rogues were either thrown out of a pack or were never in a pack. They answered to no one and did whatever they wanted. They were allowed to go into another packs territory if they asked permission first. They had to stay outside boundaries and live in areas that were not owned. Which was hard to do because there are packs all over the world. So they usually tend to find a neutral ground and settle. This situation was a little different. They were going into our territory trying to harm us. They were out for blood.
The only information that I received from my father back when this whole mini war went on was that the Red Mountain Pack had a rogue issue. There was a group of rogues calling themselves the Midnight League. They were extremely dangerous and one of our warriors ended up killing a mate of one the higher ranked rogues. They may be rogues but they still have the strong blood in them. If an Alpha is thrown out of his pack when he is overturned when challenged. It doesn't make his blood any less Alpha. It just means he doesn't have a pack anymore.
So, the mate was killed when she over stepped their bounds. Which is in the rules. From what I was told he gave her three chances to leave the land, but she wouldn't hear of it. She wanted to continue and find something that she had left behind. She apparently had been in the pack before she was thrown out. He refused her entry and wanted her to leave. When she refused he had every right to attack. He left her body on the line and soon after the rogues found her. This caused the war that made the rogues circle the Red Mountain Pack.
They started to attack them just as they are doing to us now. They wanted revenge for the death of a mate. They were killing anyone, even children, to prove a point of how hurt their fellow friend was. So that is when they called on us to help them. We put up extra borders and helped to keep them safe. They had a smaller camp and it was easier to push the rogues back. They tried to talk to one of our warriors once about what had happened. Turn us against the Red Mountain Pack, but we wouldn't do it. He told us that we would pay for choosing the wrong side and not listening to reason.
I feel there is more to the story, but my father would only give me a cliff notes version saying that it was none of my concern really. It is my concern now especially since they seem to be targeting me. Justin is in there with Gavin trying to work with some of the other warriors and Alpha talking with this rogue. That means Devin got the pleasure of watching over me today and he seems really on edge. Irritated that he out here and not in there.
I look over to him and see him closing and opening his fists fidgeting his feet from side to side. I start to feel a hurt in my stomach realizing he is going crazy with me here. He looks amazing today though in his tight black t-shirt and ripped jeans. He has his fair messy and I can smell him from here. I clear my throat and gain the courage to speak.
"I'm sorry Devin."
It seems to shock him hearing me apologize to him. He looks down at me while I am sitting against the wall. He is standing right next to me. I could reach and grab his black sneakers and untie them if I wanted to. His eyes look so intense. He has a dark ring around them. He parts his lips to say something and he just leans over and puts a hand on my shoulder. He purses his lips and stands back up to look around and stay in his thoughts. He is fighting himself and I can see it.
Trish is with her mother today. She needed to get some things in order before we leave in two days. She wants to know that her mother is safe and that she wont miss her to much. So she is making it a point to spend some time with her. So that is why I chose to sit out here and wait to hear something. I know I can get these guards to talk to me or even possibly let me know something before others. I hope.
It feels like hours that we are sitting here. So I ask Devin if it would be okay if we went to lunch hall because my stomach was starting to do flips. He followed behind me getting himself something to and we made our way over to a table. We sit down and are consumed with hunger that we both just devour our food. Within minutes we are both done. We see that each has finished at the same time and laugh. The amount that we as werewolves can eat is crazy. But, that I can polish off more food before a male were is even funnier. Devin pushes my shoulder, grabs my tray, and takes them to the can. He motions for me to follow him and we go back to where we left off.
As we are walking up we see the group is all a buzz. Something must of happened. So I run over to a familiar face. Josh is a friend that I went to school with and he was standing along side his mate Tasha and her best friend Jewel.
"Hey guys, so whats going on? What did I miss?"
"The rogue bit off his own tongue so that he didn't have to talk to the Alpha. They apparently had been torturing him this whole time. He was staying strong and when the Alpha made a comment that you will either talk to me or end up loosing your tongue, he did it himself. So crazy!"
I just stare at him as if I am looking right threw him. That is just utterly obnoxious. Why would that rogue want to bite his tongue of so that he wouldn't have to talk. The rogues do not have mind links like we do. So they he will never be able to talk unless some pack chooses to take him in. Would the Alpha do that though? Maybe that was his plan? So that he can get into our heads and find out just what we are doing. Tell the others where we are and what they have been doing to protect us.
Justin is talking with Devin when I walk over to him and as soon as I reach them they stop talking.
"Seriously guys?" I put my hand on my hip and give them a sour face.
"Yup. Okay Jenny, back to your room? Or whats your plan?"
"I want to go talk to my dad. Cool with you?"
"Sure. Let's go."
He walks me into the pack house and up the long stairs making our way to the offices where the higher ranking members work. My father should be at his desk taking care of whatever needs to concerning pack members. The Alpha is usually very hands on, so when he is tied up the Beta and the Gamma get the over flow of whatever is happening. We reach his door and I look up to see the shiny name plate on the door. I slightly rub my hand over it and then proceed to knock.
"Come in." I hear him yell from inside.
This is it. I am going to talk to him, See what is going on and find out if it is safe for Trish and I to leave in two days time. I know this is going to hurt my family, but this is something I have to do. I dream about it, I think about it, and it is what I want the most. Now to play as if I am the scared daughter and want some information so that I know where everyone will be in two days time so we can make this plan of escape work.
