For ages, sirens have taken the lives of sailors, luring them away to feast on. Merfolk have taken it upon themselves to rid the world of these creatures. They've trained their young to fight off sirens and keep the humans safe.
Due to laws, Avelina is forced to join training. However she doesn't want, nor does she care, to protect humans. She doesn't see the need to risk her life for them. With the help of her uncle she runs away. Now living in a shack near the ocean, she's free from the "incompetent creatures". But when a young boy stumbles into her life, will he change her view on humans?
