(Here's some things that you guys will need to know for this chapter: the following scene's a continuation of the last chapter which is why it's in italics. It leads up to the actual content of the chapter once I switch out of Italics.
Then I use Italics again when M'Baku or the reader speak in Yoruba dialect (which is what the Jabarians speak in rather than Xhosa which is for Wakanda YAY FOR RESEARCH!)
But otherwise, enjoy my final chapter to Scoffing at Tradition. This is perhaps my longest chapter to date (6,200+ words, buckle up!) so sit back and enjoy the ride.
It's been a real joy to watch my idea come to fruition and seeing you all like it!)

"I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!" Malik squealed in delight once you and M'Baku emerged from the back, finding yourselves cornered by a squad of on-duty nurses.
M'Baku encircled an arm around your waist to pull you into his side with a stupid grin. You rolled your eyes, a hand lightly hitting his forearm and turning your attention to Malik once M'Baku starts to chuckle behind you.
"Knew what, Malik?" You asked.
"That M'Baku was that first love you were talking about this morning!" That comment causes M'Baku to look down at you, his lips curling up into a sly, devilish smirk.
"Oh, I'm your first love? That's something you've failed to bring to my attention before, (Y/N)."
Malik cupped his hands around his mouth, hopelessly failing to conceal his loud whisper even though he had every intention to share it across the room.
"It wasn't hard to tell since she wrote your name all over some of the check up papers and zoned out in her office while looking at your photo. She talks about you with our pediatric patients about how she missed you when you left for Challenge Day and she really wasn't mad at you for leaving. But she was just upset that she did not tell you how she really felt before you stormed off—"
You waved your hands in front of your face, stammering in the process. "O-Okay, that's enough! Stop giving the man pieces of information that he's going to use against me in the future!"
Malik pulled a finger across his lips to close the imaginary zip over them. M'Baku leaned down to press a kiss onto your forehead, a cocky smile plastered on his lips. This would be a moment he would never forget.
Well, a moment that he would never forget to tease you about in the upcoming days.
"Thank you for that juicy piece of gossip, Malik. I'll have to come back to you for more. But, I'm taking the doctor with me for the day if that is alright with you all?"
The nurses giggled, shaking their heads in response before pointing to the doors. "Not at all. None of her usual patients are scheduled in today so feel free to take Dr. (L/N)."
Your mouth fell open in utter surprise of your own staff giving you up without so much of a fight. Your eyes made their way up to M'Baku, softly pleading for him to not make a celebratory scene for getting you out of work. Yet, you forget that your newly-claimed boyfriend was one for being theatrical.
M'Baku scooped you into his arms, sweeping you off your feet, causing you to let out a surprised squeal.
"Now, Princess (Y/N), I want you to know that I have cleared my schedule for the rest of the day. But I think I can pencil in giving you an overdue but nice little bubble bath."
