"Yo Wendy!" Ryder hollers across the diner, all heads turn to him but not in annoyance at his disturbance but I'm pretty sure in awe.
Wow, I was pretty sure popularity like this only existed in teen dramas. The waitress rolls her eyes when she catches sight of Ryder and walks around the counter to get some menus.
Ryder turns to me, that beautiful charming smile lighting up his face, I hadn't seen him since the bonfire.
"What up doll face?" I scoff, "Really? Doll face?" He grins largely, flashing his perfect pearly whites, "You're just so beautiful, you've gotta be a doll." I roll my eyes grinning, he really was a charmer wasn't he.
When I turn back towards the others, I catch sight of intense baby blues boring into me. He nods at me in greeting and I return the gesture before focusing my full attention on what Phoebe is saying. When Wendy arrives the boys order and their meals are brought out within ten minutes.
I gasp when I see plate after plate being loaded onto the table. Mine and Phoebe's empty dishes are taken up and Brooke's barely touched one is shoved aside to create space for their food.
They have almost 5x of what Phoebe did, these people could eat like it was no ones business. Ryder laughs so loudly, I'm certain he heard me. "We're big boys Doll face, we need our five a day."
"That's hardly your five a day, that's your freaking 35 a week right there!" I'm seriously so shocked that they're gonna eat all this. Gabe, Ryder and even Colton burst out in boisterous laughter, catching everyone's attention in the diner.
It's Gabe who speaks this time after wiping his eyes, "Football practice was grueling today, Coach worked our asses off. I feel like I'm about to fall apart like fucking Humpty Dumpty." Phoebe giggles and kisses his flushed cheeks, "Aw you poor baby. Bet I could make you feel better."
Her voice turns seductive midway through as she runs her hand down his chest, going south. I quickly look away and my cheeks tinge, when I hear him groan quietly. I look over at Brooke but she's busy rapidly typing something into her phone. I turn to Ryder and he's already started stuffing his face.
I feel eyes on me, they're scanning me and they're eating me up but I avoid them as I glance into my lap. I really don't know what's going on with us but I'm so not ready to speak about that kiss. I sigh inaudibly, I don't even know why I'm stressing about it, I mean it probably didn't even mean anything to him.
I have no doubt he's sucked face with thousands of girls and has even fucked more. Therefore it probably won't mean anything to him. Besides he's said it before, he doesn't do girlfriends so what hope is there for me.
Not that I wanna be his girlfriend, or maybe I do, no no, I don't. I groan inwardly. My phone vibrates face down on the table capturing my attention., I glance at the screen and see 'DAD' flashing across it. Excitement surges within me as I quickly excuse myself from the table and make my way to the long narrow corridor of the nearby rest rooms, answering my phone.
