Chapter 13 - healing the scars in the heart

Knuckles and Sonic were in still in the cabin...they sitting next to each-other Sonic felt like the world has been....turning on him...but Knuckles still couldn't help but notice how sad Sonic really is... a long silence was between the two until Knuckles said, hey...uhh...Sonic?...are you feeling alright? Sonic shook his head no and said, no...it's just that....life's been very hard for me...and...I thought my life was about to get better...but....I guess....I was wrong....my life just turned far worst... Sonic started to cry as Knuckles took the opportunity to comfort his crush......Knuckles held him close once more and said, your life's not that horrible Sonic... Sonic said sadly, yes...it has...both my dads have been....killed....then one of my brothers turned aggressive and evil....and another one of my brothers left me....and now I.... he sobbed once more in the echidnas arms... Knuckles whispered, well...I thought the same thing as you once...remember how we first met?....my life was filled with nothing but sadness....I was picked on so much and felt so alone....but when you came to my life...my life changed....& I felt very happy that....you know....but I couldn't help but feel...my heart beat...I never knew or had someone that can stand up for a stupid idiot like me...to be honest...when I first saw you....you were shining so very bright...I felt my heart skipping a beat or two every time...I looked at you... that's when Sonic recalled how they met: <flashback> (it began right after Sonic and Tails met) Sonic was already finished defending the village by himself once again....he was thinking about his brothers day in and day out....then a certain Fox came to him and said, hey... *Sonic turn to see the same fox he saved*...*Sonic saved the yellow fox from weasel bandits last week* I wanted to thank you for saving me back there.... Sonic said as he turned away, yeah...it's all I could do...defending the village, the villagers and the island it's part of what I do....besides I've....been doing it myself since my old team and I separated... Tails thought and thought and then he ran up to him and said, well why don't you and I form a new team....*Sonic stopped*...I know you've been very lonely and having a lot of pain defending the village by yourself...how about I defend the village with you... Sonic said in concern, aren't you a bit too young for that? Tails shook his head no and said, no....I'm like a teenager....and yet I'm very smart....you definitely should let me help you.... Sonic said, I'll...I'll think about it...I've been getting back pains for defending the village by myself anyway.... Tails smiled and said, thank you so much....oh my name's Tails... what's yours? Sonic answered, Sonic the Hedgehog...nice to meet you Tails... Tails said, nice to meet you too....well I gotta go...you should drop by my workshop any time soon... Sonic said, yes...sure... Tails said happily as he walked, I'll catch ya later Sonic.... Sonic thought as he looked at the path and started walking again, you know....he's right....I've been getting very lonely since both my brothers are gone...I should...make some friends...and start a new team....but it won't be easy....Sonic thought and walked obliviously when he sees a red echidna being picked on by several mean and heartless villagers while crying... Sonic thought, whoa he looks so....I don't know...he's got muscles but he's also vulnerable...he hears one of them say, why don't you keep on crying stupid.... they laughed at him as the red echidna cried and begged, st..stop...pl..please...I...ow! another threw a hard stone at him.... Sonic couldn't take seeing people getting picked on and then stood in the way and said with a cold glare, just what do you think your doing? One of the mean villagers said, hey get lost hedgehog this doesn't concern you.... The red echidna was face down shaking in fear and sadness.. Sonic said angrily with a cold glare, oh yes it does....why can't you all stop picking on people I mean really what have they ever done to you....another said, this is just too amusing... I can't believe he needed that defender of the village to defend someone as stupid as him.... Sonic didn't have time to deal with their horrid words....he spin dashed them and knocks them all down on their rear-ends... Sonic said as he gave them a death glare, now still wanna test me?...*the villagers shook their heads no*....good...now scram...before I do it again.... the mean villagers left... Sonic turned and said gently as he went down to his knees and petted his head, hey...are you okay... the red echidna slowly lifted his head up revealing tears in his eyes. That's when sees Sonic shining beautifully...the sun shines brightly behind the hedgehog. he sees Sonic looking down at him with his pretty green eyes filled with concern... the red echidna sat up and looked at him with sad and starstruck violet eyes... he blushed at the blue hedgehog and thought, wow...I never seen such a beautiful creature.... Sonic wiped his tears and looked at his eyes....Sonic thought, he has such beautiful violet eyes....he's strong but he's vulnerable....so cute...I didn't just think that. did I?...he shooks it off and then Sonic said as he petted his head, are you feeling okay?.... Knuckles simply said as he blushed, y..yes...umm...thank you...I guess.... Sonic giggled and said, it's all I can do to help... then Sonic stood up and said, well I gotta go...see ya... then sped off...leaving a starstruck echidna looking at the way he went... <flashback ends> Sonic felt so dazed as Knuckles can feel his heart beating slowly...Sonic felt dizzy as he recalled after the incident with Knuckles....<flashback> after Knuckles was convinced that his friends are also his family...Sonic ran back to the shack to get ready to go to his family reunion... Sonic thought, I do hope Manic will keep his promise... when he found the necklace that Manic gave him and puts it on....he was wearing jean-like capris, a bright violet jacket & a cotton-candy blue shirt.... he rolled his eyes and thought, sheesh...why did you haft to get this shirt Sonia?....I don't wanna wear girly outfits...I don't even wanna wear these outfits you keep picking for me... Sonic looks in the mirror and said, why is it that she keep giving me these stupid outfits...I'm a grown hedgehog not a toddler...sisters...*impersonates Sonia*...well you need to have good taste Sonic...you need to have decency when you go to places so elegant....you have to be so decently dressed for occasions like these...*stops impersonating his sister*...if anyone sees me in this girly outfit I'm blaming Sonia...Sonic be decent this...Sonic mind your manors that....Sonic be a gentleman this....Sonic don't embarrass yourself that....I swear whenever instructor from that role-model incident criticizes me I feel like my stupid sisters criticizing me again...I swear I rather be criticize by that sister of mine than anyone any day... then the blue hedgehog sits on the hammock and said in annoyance, where the heck is Manic...he should've been here by now... then about one minute later he hears familiar voice said, Sonic it's time to go... he looks to see Sonia... Sonic said in embarrassment and annoyance, hey Sonia... Sonia said in a lady-like tone, don't you take that tone when you say hello to an individual Sonic... Sonic said in a frustrated tone, says someone who is nothing but a whiny princess... Sonia said in a insulted way, and what's that supposed to mean brother? Sonic replied, it means that you keep criticizing me and telling me to be a decent young man...and where's Manic? Sonia replied, he couldn't make so mom and I came in his place...and Sonic you really shouldn't be lashing out at someone while throwing a nasty fit...it's not polite...now come on Sonic we can't keep Mother waiting... Sonic whispered, your something only a snob can love... Sonia said, I heard that...now come on moms waiting outside... Sonic replied, I may need to take a few minutes outside... Sonic walked from his sister....Sonic took about 20 steps and said, if anybody sees me in this I am gonna be humiliated... then as if on cue he sees Knuckles walking when he sees Sonic....Knuckles said, hey I was about to be on way to your place... Sonic said, Knux I'm going to my family reunion so in the meantime you should... Knuckles said sadly, what?...but...why are you going Sonic...are you mad at me... then he started to cry.. Sonic was about to say something when a familiar voice said from behind, am I interrupting something? Sonic looked to see his mother looking at him with a stern but confused look... Sonic felt really bad for Knuckles because he knew he didn't have any family left...and he didn't wanna leave him alone....so Sonic had an idea... Sonic whispered to Knuckles, hey I have an idea but I doubt it would work...I'll be right back don't go anywhere Knux... Knuckles looks at him and said, okay... Sonic walked towards his mother and told her everything....Sonic said as he finished reasoning with his mother, mommy...I know this is sudden and this is the only time we get to see our family...but he doesn't have any family left...so I know this is a really big day and all but...would it be okay if I bring him to the family-reunion with me...please mommy... his mother thought for a moment and said with a concern, Sonic you know we can't bring people to our family reunion....*Sonic frowned for a moment*...but...I can make an acceptation sweetheart...since you said he doesn't have a family you can bring him with you... Sonic asked in a hopeful tone, really?..*Aleena nodded and smiled and then Sonic hugged her as Aleena hugs him back*...thank you so much mommy... Sonic runs to him and said, hey Knux your coming with me to the family reunion... Knuckles looks up to his best friend and said, really Sonic? The blue hedgehog nodded... Knuckles stood up and hugged Sonic which made his mom giggle as Sonia walked to her mother side... Sonia said, all this because your bringing a friend with you...Knuckles asked in a confused tone as he looks at the two girls, umm Sonic who are they? Sonic replied, oh sorry...I always skip introductions on my family...Knuckles this is my mother and older sister Sonia... Knuckles whispered, that's your mother?...I thought your parents were blue like you... Sonic whispered, I get my blue fur from Mom's side of the family...although she does have violet fur...as for my sister...she has that pinkish fur and ladylike tone from my grandmothers side...I should warn my sister is the queen of being an delicates and being an elegant lady...which she is kind of a total drama queen to me.... Knuckles whispered, that's a bit...interesting...I guess...but how come I never seen them around here? Sonic replied, that's because they live at the other side of the village so they are halfway seen from most of the days... Sonia walked towards the pair and said to Knuckles, hey excuse me for interrupting your conversation but has my brother been behaving himself since he started not working alone again? Knuckles replied, well...yes he has been behaving well... Sonia said in a lady-like tone, I thought so....so he's finally coming out of his shell huh?...guess that's a good thing...I guess... Aleena said, my child has been doing a lot for pretty much everyone...I appreciate you being there for him... Knuckles said, your welcome...well...truth is your son's been there for me too... Aleena smiled and said, he gets his good heart on my side...well don't take too long we can't keep everyone waiting...I'll see you three at the reunion.. she walks off... Sonic said, we'll see your too mother... Sonia said, well don't just stand there...come on...and try not to get lost like last time... Sonic said, I won't big sister.... the two followed Sonia slowly... Sonic felt disappointed and sad.. Knuckles noticed Sonic and said, hey what's the matter... Sonic replied, well my big brother Manic was supposed to be here but he didn't show up...sis said he's gonna be late...just like last time... Knuckles held his hand which made Sonic feel a little better... Knuckles whispered, you didn't haft to bring me with you... Sonic whispered, your my friend Knuckles and...I just couldn't stand people when they're alone....besides to be honest I wanted my friends or at least one of my friends to meet my family...it's not very often that I do... Knuckles smiled a bit knowing that Sonic was doing something nice for him... when they got to the reunion Knuckles saw a bunch of colorful hedgehogs thought most of them are blue, violet, green, indigo, and black it was so filled with laughter and happiness... Sonic spots Manic leaning against the tree... Manic sees Knuckles and his two siblings... curiosity got the best of him as he walks towards his sister with the usual smirk on his face... Manic said in a teasing tone, well I didn't think that we were supposed to bring friends to the reunion... Sonia said, that's one of Sonics friends...sheesh way after you left and completely way after that incident with Seelkadoom Sonic started working alone...at least until he made some friends... Manic chuckled and said, I heard about it Sonia I was only teasing...I better go introduce myself to that friend of his... Manic walked towards the pair and said, well...didn't think you would be making some friends Sonic.... the two and said, well didn't think I see the day that I would meet one of your friends Sonic... Sonic said, hello brother... Knuckles was too nervous to talk. Then Sonic said, oh Manic this is one of my friends Knuckles...Knux this is my older brother Manic... Manic said, nice to meet you...*turns to Sonic*...sorry about that I showed up about two minutes ago... Sonic said, don't worry about... Manic walked off with a smile on his face... Sonic told Knuckles, hey there's no need to be nervous Knuckles...there not gonna bite... Knuckles said nervously, I know but... Sonic interrupted politely and caressed his cheek, you shouldn't worry Knuckles...if your really nervous I'll do all of the talking...I love helping my loved ones even they're nervous.... Knuckles smiled and hugged Sonic... <flashback ends>... the scars were deepened as he recalled how he lost both his fathers....he sees the images of his two dead fathers...and sobbed more as he can hear and listen to the screams of sorrow and cries of grief... Knuckles can sense how much pain Sonic really is in and said as he pulled Sonic closer, its okay Sonic...ssshhhhhh....ssssshhhhhhh...it's okay....Seelkadoom won't harm you anymore...it's okay....I know it... Sonic was drenched in tears as he looked at his best friend with sad and teary eyes... Sonic whispered, I'm really scared...I'm so sorry...I'm so sorry Knuckles.... Knuckles whispered, there's nothing to be sorry about...it wasn't your fault...it's okay.... Sonic felt tired from all of the crying...then he fell asleep in Knuckles arms as he felt his heart healing slowly...
