Carter's POV
"Hello Mr. Charles," I answered the phone and finally finished my meetings with Mr. Lee and Mr. Kim in Korea, Mrs. Soto in Japan, Mr. Zhang in China, Mr. Prav in India, and Miss Lim in Thailand. It was constant meetings, business dinners, and travel nonstop trying to break into one Asian market was hard but trying to expand into all in one long shot was something only a madman would do. Clearly, I was the madman.
"Mr. Charles, can you hear me?"
"Sorry, can you repeat what you said I had to reread these documents?"
"There's a reporter who's been mentioning Ms. Valenti's name."
"Mentioning how?"
"He's writing a paper about her and I believe without her knowledge sir," it was always good to have people in your corner that you can trust to treat you right.
"I want the paper, I want the editor's number, and let me know if I have to suddenly spread into the media reporting business."
"On his itinerary, he has a 'first meeting slash date with her," she checked her screen. I was wrong for having her investigated but it was one of the conditions that Vera set when she
"Hold on please," I looked at Vera, "Vera change the schedule of our flight out today please, I'm ready to go home."
Switching back onto the phone, "Find me a location and time and I want evidence," I hung up pinching the bridge of my nose.
Mr. Prav and his associates thought I was stupid, they wanted to play around and act like they didn't want to partake in my business dealings but in three days they would call me back just like Mr. Lee, Mrs. Soto, and Mr. Kim did. They believed in what I was doing here they just wanted more money out of me and I wasn't going to budge until I started seeing progress returns and my schedule got caught up. I wanted building permits and all paperwork to begin breaking ground as soon as possible and they were stalling.
I missed her. I wanted to tell her about my day every day and have her in my bed every night but I never knew what to say to her without sounding like a douche. I left without saying anything and leaving a note always sounded cliche and unoriginal. I didn't even know what I would say in a note. What I do know is that whenever I thought about her my chest started feeling weird and when I thought about her body I started getting hard and that was a phenomenon by itself.
Of course, after months away she would move on to someone but why a reporter? What if she didn't know he was a reporter and because she was so heartbroken because I left? She gravitated to another man and he's writing a slander piece that will publicly humiliate her? She was smarter than that she would clock him before things went too far.
Vera pulled me out of my thoughts, "Sir when would you like to fly out?"
"As soon as possible," I could've flown to the hotel how quickly I packed my things up and rushed to the car, Vera glued to my side I always worried for her safety when we were out of the country and in the country. I had to punch a man for getting physical after she rejected him and another for their comments and advances toward her and before I could swing on the man in Japan. Mrs. Soto handled him. "Vera as soon as we get to the hotel I want bags packed and the next flight out is ours."
"With this traffic, we won't make the next flight but I have a plan," that was all she said until I got the text from Fasser, my private investigator.
Fasser: The date is tomorrow at 7 pm.
It was 8 pm in Mumbai and this fourteen-hour flight would only leave me anxious. It'd be 10 a.m. in India when we landed and 1:30 stateside.
Carter: Vale we're on our way home is everything done?
