I Promised I'd Be Back

*flash back to 3 years ago*

"Go, I want you to be happy and live your dreams." I said trying to hold my tears back. "But baby, I can't just leave you here." She said cupping my face as a tear escapes her eye and trails down her cheek. "You have too.. I can't just pack up and leave, I need to get things sorted here, I want you to go and go do what you've always wanted to do." I said biting my cheek. She put her forehead against mine sniffling, wiping her tears with her hand here and there. "I'll come back for you Lani. I promise I will. I'll come back and I'll bring you back with me." She said. "Okay baby." I said and then there was a honk of a car horn outside, causing the both of us to look at the door. "I gotta go now babygirl.. I love you don't forget that." She said and kissed my head. "I love you too." I said then she opened the door and looked at me. "I'm doing it!" She said smiling but I can see the sadness in her eyes. "I promise I'll be back." She said and I nodded. "I know baby." I said. She pulled me to her and kissed my lips for the last time and hugged me tightly. "Travel safely." I said and she ran to the car and smiled. The driver put her bags into the trunk of the car, then she waved at me and blew me kisses after she had gotten into the car. I waved back wiping my eyes then closed the door after the driver of the car drove off.

That was the last time I saw her, the last time I felt her soothing arms around me, the last time I kissed her, and the last time she was mine. Now, she's a big star like she always wanted to be. I opened my phone and there it was "Ruby Rose, topping the charts as number one". I sighed and looked at her photo for a while. She looks happy. I clicked on her Instagram that was tagged and looked at the photos of her smiling and looking like she's having the time of her life. I miss that smile. I miss gently placing my hand on her face. I bit my lip and quickly pressed the follow button before closing my phone. I still lived in the same town but in an apartment, instead of the house I used to live in. I got up and began to get ready for work. Let's hope that today is a good day.
