➶ On my way back from the woods, I pass by the shops and such. I stare into the window of the bakery, eyeing beautifully painted cakes like Prim used to. Surprisingly, I spot Peeta walking down the dirt road towards me, and stare at his figure. Average, blonde hair, blue eyes, lots of muscle. The man that swept me off my feet, smiling and waving me to come over. Our hands interlock and I give him a little squeeze before I speak up. "What are you doing here?" I ask. "I figured we could kill some time before I take you out tonight." He smiles and places a soft kiss on my lips, his pointer finger under my chin. "Like, on a date?" I ask, excited to find out my answer. He nods, and we walk into the Mellark Bakery for some work. ❁❁➶❁❁ Peeta and I frost cakes, cupcakes, and cookies until 4:30. We spread the chocolate and vanilla frosting, with a dash of sprinkles on top. After a while, Peeta walks over to the coatrack and grabs our belongings. We lock up and head out for home. The dirt road leaves residue under the soles of my shoes as Peeta and I casually walk home. We pass by a meadow of flowers, a melancholy aired cemetery, and the Seam where I once grew up. When we pass the Seam, Peeta stares at me and nudges me in the shoulder. "You okay, Katniss?" I nod and smile, turning away. My last few thoughts are about my date awaiting me tonight. ➶

 -----------------------------------

As I walk down our wooden steps, dress and all, Peeta checks me out from top to bottom. He smiles, taking my hand in his own and leading me to the bottom of the steps. "Wow, Katniss! You look, spectacular." He says. I twirl around and plant a kiss on his check once I come about to my normal state. "Thank you, you don't look too bad yourself." I say. Peeta chuckles and hooks arms with me, heading out for our mysterious date. ❁❁➶❁❁ I smoothed out the bottom to my dress as I sit down in my seat, Peeta pushing my chair closer to the table for two. I glance around and try to get a feel for this place, warm, calm, quiet, very subtle. It's a kind of place Peeta would enjoy, and I'm glad he chose this place, only due to my anxious self around many people while still getting over the emotions of a miscarriage...still spook me to be around people. Peeta grabs my hands across the table, and lightly plants little kisses on the tops. "I'm so glad we're here, just us to talk and enjoy each other's presence." Peeta says, smiling. He rubs small circles with his thumb in the meat of my hand, easing all my sentimental feelings towards the baby, and life itself. Peeta's always trying to please me, when sometimes I worry about him. Sometimes I feel that I don't show him I love him enough, but somehow he seems to deny it when I think he needs it the most. He's more concerned about my feelings rather than his, my problems before his, and my needs before his. But that's what makes him so special. ➶

 -------------------------------------

➶ We spend the rest of the night chatting, about the kids, work, hunting, etcetera. Both of us order the same, grosling meat with some herbal spice I've never heard of. Peeta and I have a glass, enjoying the time we have without the kids. It feels great being childless for a couple hours. We finish eating around eight, and head home for some rest and time with our children. Peeta reaches for my hand when we walk out of the restaurant, and they lock like puzzle pieces. The busy crowds in town worry me, snuggling up to Peeta. He kisses the top of my head, whispering something I can't make out. Soon we reach the dirt path on the way to our old rustic house, and step inside the door to rest for the night. ❁❁➶❁❁ Willow, Rye, and Johanna come to greet us all at once. My little girl almost knocks me off my feel, stumbling me over trying to hug me. I chuckle, showing little Willow some affection. On the other hand, I look over to Peeta, Rye all snuggled up to his daddy. Holding Willow in my arms, I walk over to Rye and brush his little baby curls away from his sweaty forehead. Peeta grins, and takes Willow from my hands, swapping kids. I don't think Rye is awake, because as soon as I plop his head on my shoulders, he drifts off into a nap. I bounce up and down with him in my arms, walking to his bedroom and tucking him in his sheets, Peeta doing the same for Willow. I kiss both their foreheads, and walk outside our bedroom with Peeta. We have smiles and calm faces, all relax and winding down for a long rest. until Johanna pulls us to the side to talk. ➶
