Harlem POV:
"Bring your ASS here Harlem!" My mother yells at me from downstairs. I'm pretty sure my Spanish teacher called home. I don't see why Carol was so mad though. I only spoke my mind when she tried to fail me for missing one assignment. Out of the thirty assignments we were giving through the marking period, missing one of them shouldn't be very detrimental. But I guess that she could be upset that a dozen thumb tacks 'magically appeared' on her stool.
"NOW Harlem!" my mother yells again. I ultimately decide to go downstairs and face her wrath. When I get downstairs, I'm forced against a wall by an invisible force. Metal cuffs appear out of the wall and I'm trapped. "Yes mother," I sigh. She does this every time I 'Do something wrong.' It's about time I just chill out and be a good child. SIKE. I crack myself up.
"Why is Carol blowing up my phone again? What the hell did you do this time Harlem?!" She screams in my face. I swear a piece of chicken flew pass me. I don't even try and answer because I know that she isn't fini- "You always acting a fool in that school. Kingsworth also called and said that you mixed the chemicals in chemistry to make a HIGHLY TOXIC VOLCANO!"
Like I said, she isn't finished. It's only a matter of time before she starts smoking out of the ears. "Mother she doesn't have any proof that the thumb tacks came from me so I don't see why you're mad." I say sarcastically. I love antagonizing her. It's a nice hobby of mine. "You know what boy?! I'm taking you out of that school and your going to Saint Xavier's." She said as she walked away. Now it's my turn to get livid.
"Mother you're literally insane if you think I'm going to Saint Xavier's. That school is for wayward witches and demons, and last one I checked I'm not officially a witch now am I?" I say as I try and break out of the cuffs. These things are strong. I would be able to break them if she just gave me my full powers. She keeps them hidden from me until I prove that i can be a great witch, like my brother Artemis. He went on to become the leader of his own Cult, and now she holds me up to his standard. I'll never be like him because I'm not him. I'm never going to be the leader of a Cult, and I don't even want to be in one. I just want to be free of the world, but she won't even let me try.
"Well then call me crazy. I don't care anymore. You constantly act like you have no Damn sense, and you need to learn your lesson." She says while undoing the cuffs on my wrists and ankles. She disappeared right after the cuffs vanished. "You can't be serious." I say to no one in particular. Now I'm alone with my thoughts.
I go back into me room and call my best friend Heroine. "She can't be serious." Heroine says after I do a recap of the previous events. "That's what I said. If I get sent away then I won't get to see you or anyone else for 4 years." I cry into the phone. Believe it or not, I'm a love my best friend, and I don't know how I'd be able to function without her. She helped me through some pretty dark times.
"Harlem I don't know who you thought you were, but the Harlem I know never cries." She says through the phone. I shed one more single tear before wiping them all away.
"Best friend I'm going to go take a shower. Can you come over in the morning so we can enjoy my last day?" I barely speak over a whisper. "Sure Harlem. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Bye." She says before hanging up.I strip and get my change of clothes before going to get into the shower. When I get it the hot water rushes down my body. I can feel it drip from my head to my toes, and wash away my pain.
