I watch my brother balance weights, pull metal pins from shields, and hammer out metal rods. I get bored watching him work. Standing I motion towards the door. Hiccup nods. "Good night Whisper." He says before returning to his work.

I walk outside but I don't go home. I go down to the pier and sit on the deck, my feet hanging two feet above the water. If this fake tail thing works, I wonder if Hiccup and I could ride the Nightfury. I mean Toothless.

Only Odin and Thor know how angry dad is going to be when he finds out. I feel guilty, like I am betraying my dad.

The water ripples under my feet. A soothing wave washes across me and I my ears are filled with song-like purr. I look down. But I don't see anything in the deep, black water. My eyelids get heavy then I close them leaning back and falling asleep listening to the soothing song.

I wake up to the rising sun with the waves of the ocean crashing beneath me. I sit up stiffly. I better go see where my brother is. Standing I run down the pier and dash to Gobber's blacksmith. I pull the curtain back stepping into Hiccup's work space. He's sleeping on his desk on top of a leather thing with metal rods.

I poke Hiccup in the cheek. He quickly sits up. "I'm up!" he looks at me. Rubbing his eyes. "What was that for? I thought dad was mad at me. Again."

I nod at the leather thing. He picks it up and pulls it flat. It is a perfect replica of Toothless' tail. "Come on."

Hiccup lugs a basket of fish over his shoulder to distract Toothless and I carry the tail as we enter the cove. "Toothless." Hiccup calls trying to lure him out.

The black dragon pads over to us and Hiccup spills the fish to the ground. "I got salmon, cod, and a whole smoked eel." He says.

Pleaser washes over me and I shudder at the thought of eating raw fish. Suddenly Toothless is angry. His eyes narrow and he growls.

Hiccup looks confused but I know what it is. I pull the eel out of the fish pile and Toothless fans his wings out and hisses. "No, no. It's okay." Hiccup says taking the eel and throwing it to the side. "Yeah, I don't really like eel either." He says wiping his hand on his vest.

We sneak around to Toothless' tail and Hiccup takes the tail from me he kneels down and places it by the injured side of the tail. I crouch down and hold the long tail firmly as it moves to the side. My brother copies me and sits near the fanned end leaning over to buckle the fake tail on.

Confusion washes over me then surprise as Toothless figures out wat Hiccup is doing. I look over my shoulder, one foot on either side of the tail and my hands holding it down, and see his wings stretching out. It takes a second for ms to realize that he is getting ready to fly.

Hiccup sits back and murmurs to himself as he looks at his work. I tap him on the shoulder but he ignors me.

Suddenly there is wind at my back and I am flipped over onto my back as Hiccup is pulled between my legs as he clings to Toothless' tail.

Toothless flaps his wings hard extreme happiness coming off of him. Then he begins to falter as the flapping of the fake tail drags him down. Hiccup reaches out and pulls it tight from where is clings to the tail. "It works!" I hear him shout. He tilts the fake tail and Toothless veers to the right diving back into the cove.

They fly over the top of the water then Toothless looks down and sees Hiccup clinging to his tail. With a flick my brother is sent skimming over the water like a skipping rock and Toothless falters then falls into the water.

"Yeah!" Hiccup cheers from the water. I smile and wave at him in victory of success.
