The thug life chose me

CHAPTER ONE

Eight year old Thomas walk up the street with his Father Johnny, Behind them was a big basket of food, from bread, sandwiches, Frozen dinners to Vegetable, Fruits, juices and can pops. Thomas look up at his father with admiration.

“Dad why do we go around giving people food for?” Thomas asked Johnny.

Johnny looked down at his son's curious face, being a splitting image of Thomas, Johnny was six"two, dark brown and average-size built. He had Almond brown eyes, pointy but round nose and a strong jaw with long dreads running down from his head.

“Son, sometimes you have to find the good in yourself and share it with others. See not everybody is as lucky as we are and I just want to teach you to give back whenever you can. I guarantee you, some will be very grateful. It will make you feel good in the end and God will bless you.”

"Was mom the same way as you are?" Thomas asked.

Johnny looked up at the sky,

“Yeah she's the one who got me into doing this. Your mom was an amazing women.”

Thomas mom April died when he was born. She had a severe case of PreEclampsia. She hemorrhaged and bled out after Thomas was born. She died on the table.

     April and Johnny met ten years ago while working together at Bavette's Bar and Boeuf, he was the Chef and she was one of the Line cooks. That Night they had some special guest coming to eat there, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian and everything had to be spot on. Johnny being the Chef was in charge of the night and he was working that kitchen like it was no tomorrow. April had just started there and wasn't as prepared as she'd hope. Johnny noticed her struggle and walked over to her.

"You okay?" He asked April.

"I don't know, I don't think I can do this."

April was in distress.

“Look just calm down, Negativity is not how you should handle things. Breath a few times.”

April did as Johnny instructed.

"Do you feel a little better?" he asked.

April nodded her head up and down smiling a little bit.

“See, just calm down, think about anything positive in your life and just breath. Do you love your job?"

“Yes I love cooking, it's my life.” April replied.

“Well then you're at the right job, Once you get use to things it'll be a breeze.”

"Do you get Celebrities often?"

“Yeah we do, That's why if you're going to work here you have to have tough skin and strength. I see that in you April, Good work by the way.”

Johnny smile at April, she smiled back. Johnny made her feel more at ease and as he said the rest of the night was a breeze for her. She also saw how Johnny worked the line and handled his employees and was really intrigued. She couldn't help but admire his take control attitude. His Confidence was her motivation the rest of the night.

Later that night after the Restaurant was about to close Johnny met up with April at the door, Carrying her cooking gear and uniform. Johnny walked up to April offering to help her with her things, holding all of what she had in her arms.

"Thank you." April said swaying a piece of hair behind her ear, smiling shyly.

"No problem, First time seeing you outside of your uniform since you started working here, you looked great."

Johnny compliment April.  She was flattered.

"So you stay around here?" He asked.

April nodded her head.

"I was thinking maybe sometime after work tomorrow we could go out and have a drink or something?" Johnny asked April.

“I don't know, I normally don't mix business with pleasure.”

“How about we just hang out as friends, and whatever happen, happens.”

"I guess that's cool" April said.

She wanted Johnny, the moment she saw him take over the line the way he did. She didn't want him to know it though, nor was she going to make it easy for him.

    In fact they did hang out after that day and more so after that. April couldn't deny the feelings that began to grow inside of her for Johnny and the same with him also. They fell in love. After three years they were married and a year later Thomas was born. The day Thomas was born, That day was the Best and worst day of Johnny's life. The best because Thomas came into his world and the worse because That very same day April was pronounced dead not to long after she gave birth. Throughout April's whole pregnancy she was fine, but during her last Month of pregnancy, She fainted while out shopping for baby clothes. Residents around her called nine-one-one and she was rushed to the hospital. Johnny was at work but he got to the hospital as soon as he heard about what happened from a resident who knew them personally. There April was Diagnosed with PreEclampsia and they had to have Thomas right away due to April having two seizures on her way to the hospital. Thomas was in distress and his heart rate was dropping. They delivered him Immediately. Johnny got there right after Thomas was born. He got suited up and was in the Emergency room, He saw them rush Thomas out of the room, Just as that was happening April's Heart rate dropped drastically and she was seizing again. Soon after she began to Hemorrhage. Johnny didn't know what to do, his whole world was crashing before him. He backed up against the wall trying to breath but his mind was spiralling out of control. It wasn't long before Johnny heard the heart monitor fall flat, And after trying to revive her, hearing the Doctors call out time of death
