It was so hard to fall asleep last night. With my sunburn, I couldn't get comfortable. I had a small tank top on, and slept in just my panties. It was too hot for my regular pjs. I had the fan going, and kept putting on aloe vera, but kept throwing on and off the blankets. I kept changing sleeping positions but nothing helped. Finally, at 4am, I fell asleep. When I woke up, it was 12 pm. 'Oh no,' I thought,' I slept through almost the entire day!' My mom didn't come in and wake me up. 'Was she .....', my train of thought took me to a dark place,'no, Tori. You promised yourself that you wouldn't think that way.' My body was super weak from the the dumb sunburn. 'Why did we go to the beach again?', I thought to myself. I huffed as I got out of bed. It was so painful. 'Stupid sunburn!!', I thought. My mother said that beauty was pain, but I couldn't care less because of the stupid sunburn that stung every time I tried to move. Yeah, I couldn't care less if I went back to the beach to get a tan, couldn't care less about A TAN for that matter. However, I was paying the price for being gullible and believing that the sun wasn't out to get me.
I tried to put my clothes on but my aching skin was so painful, I couldn't. I laid back in bed in defeat. When was I going to feel normal again? I fell back asleep. I then woke up around 2:30pm. I showered, fixed my hair, and put on my light pink dress that hugged my body until it flared out of my hips. I put on my blue jean jacket and my light pink kitten heels. I wore my hair curly half up half down, and decided to throw on a little makeup. It was a natural look, but with subtle bright pink lips. I tried my best to cover up my sunburn on my face and neck, and I did it well. My mom promised me that we would go dancing and shopping tonight, so I ate a quick late lunch at the little cafe across the street and went back to the house to see if my mom was up. Brenda greeted me at the door,"Tori, your mom told me to tell you that she is already at the boardwalk and has bought some things for you. She didn't want to wake you up. Thought were still hurting from the sunburn." "How can I get to the boardwalk without walking? There must be a bus station or something...", I trailed off.
"Oh no honey, Bernie will take you. Free of charge.", she said sweetly. "Ok. Thanks.", I grabbed my small pink crossbody purse, and headed to his small burgundy car. "Thank you for taking me to the boardwalk, Bernie.", I smiled at him. He smiled back. We talked about the weather, hobbies, and his job. I found out that he used to love golfing, and I told him I loved putt golfing. A little ways down the road it was silent. Then I spoke,"Bernie? Do you have any grandkids?" "Nope.", he said with a smile,"But I sure did want some grandchildren." "Well I think you would've made a wonderful grandpa.", I said happily. We finally made it to the boardwalk, and I let out a breath that I didn't realize I was holding. I was quite a little nervous to go out looking for my mom on my own. However I did spot Sam. I smiled. He was someone I knew. I got out and thanked Bernie for the ride. He smiled and drove away. I ran over to Sam and tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey Sammy!!", I shouted excitedly, "Whatcha doin'?" "Oh hey, Tori. I'm just hanging out with my friends.", he pointed at two guys who looked about the same age as him. "Hi, I'm Tori.", I waved at them. "This is Edgar, and Allen Frog.", he said pointing to them.
