My first sight of South Korea......
Was the grey gravel of the runway at night. I chuckled. It was so beautiful though!!! The clean concrete, it's lovely dull colour, it's flawless.....flatness? I'm joking. Though I was greeted with this mediocre sight, excitement still clouded my thoughts. I ran down the stairs, dragging Hope along behind me. We jumped three steps, landed and kept on running. "Wait for me!" Hope giggled, her bags surrounding her.
We both sped through security and raced out of the airport, to be greeted by the night sky. The cold, crisp air shocked my face and ears. Me and Hope must have literally stayed just outside the airport door, glued to the spot for a few minutes, just breathing in the air, in our own world, peering out on the city of Seoul.
It was beautiful at night. Skyscrapers and night lights. It was as if Seoul was the ink black sky, with little stars dotted around. I snapped out of my gaze and turned to Hope. A tear was streaked down her cheek, her eyes glassy. "It's so beautiful" she gasped, "am I good enough? What if.." more tears leaking from her big, awe struck eyes. "I can't even.." she sighed wiping away tears, still leaving the sheen of them on her face. She sniffled. "Sorry" she apologized laughing. "No, no, no it's fine" I said turning her shoulders so she would face me.
"Don't apologize"
She bit the inside of her lip and nodded. "Now lets go!" I exclaimed excitedly grabbing my bags.
