Running to my father, I jumped into his arms, earning a frown from him. "Daddy!"
"Taylor, you know not to interrupt me while I'm talking," he said. He put me down and continued talking to his Beta, John. "John, will you be able to handle her?"
John nodded and replied, "Of course Alpha."
I looked up at the both of them before asking, curiously, "What do you mean, Daddy?" I was only six and I didn't always understand what they were talking about.
My father looked down at me and said with an even tone, "You are going to live with Beta John from now on, Taylor."
Tears swelled up in my light, silver eyes and I asked, heartbroken, "What? Why? Don't you want me anymore, Daddy?" John looked at me, sadness in his dark, brown eyes.
My father scowled, "Taylor, stop those tears. Of course I still want you, but I have responsibilities as the Alpha that involve a lot of traveling so, while I'm gone, Beta John and his family will be taking care of you. Understand?"
I was too sad to speak, so I merely nodded my head.
"Good." After that, he walked away. The last memory I remember of him, until I saw him again when I was eleven, was his tall figure walking away. Leaving me.
