‘Welcome to my house!’ Harry basks, grinning.
‘House?’ I laugh, smirking at him.
‘Cottage!’ He shouts with the same tone of voice as before. I nod with an approving look on my face, scanning the small building. Let’s be honest, it was barely a cottage. There was a small lounge with the dining and kitchenette joint on, what I assumed was a small laundry, and at the very front next to us was a staircase leading up to an open bedroom and en-suite. It was so warm and cosy, but as I looked around once more, a question came to mind.
‘Where am I sleeping?’ I smile unsurely.
‘Uh…’ Harry blushes and smiles sheepishly glancing around. I can take the couch if you want…’
‘Don’t be silly Hazza, we can share a bed.’ I elbow him softly, this time smiling confidently. I knew I’d have to be careful, and to be completely honest I wasn’t as confident as my smile said I was. I sigh, heaving my bags through the door, noticing the rain hit the porch outside. Harry’s cheeks turn from the bright red to a peachy pink, almost normal colour. He immediately turns on the heating and takes my bags upstairs like a gentleman. It was only around 9 and by the look of it neither of us were tired, so I assumed we’d be staying up a bit longer.
‘Movies?’ I shout upstairs, looking up. A mop of messy curls leans over the side followed by stunning green orbs that look down into mine.
‘Bookshelf.’ He cheekily grins, brushing his hair with his hand quickly I nod and skip across the lounge.
‘BLANKETS?’ I hear a call from upstairs and a quick open of a cupboard.
‘YES!’ I holler back, running my fingers up and down the selection of movies. I see things such as Toy Story, Chicken Little, Spiderman, Batman… and then I spot The Notebook, The Vow and Friends With Benefits.
‘Chick flicks Harry, really?’ I mutter to myself, cocking an eyebrow.
‘Zayn’s into them, you know. Don’t tease him.’ Harry’s voice startles me, causing a few of the movies to fall from the shelf. I feel my cheeks redden and I see Harry dump the blankets on the couch.
‘Sorry.’ He chuckles. I shake my head, still embarrassed.
‘You want to watch one then?’ He steps over and helps me collect the movies on the floor.
‘Not really into them, how about Christine?’ I smile deviously, and Harry laughs under his breath. I feel my arm brush his and electricity runs up my arm. I quickly draw it back without Harry noticing and curse so it was inaudible, feeling even more embarrassed. What was this, a cliché girl movie? I wasn’t going to fall for a good friend, or a pop star, for that matter. I roll my eyes at my childishness and pick out the old movie Christine. I’d seen it hundreds of times with my dad- it was a movie about a car that’s oddly alive, and has a very fond owner. I’d always questioned the director’s sanity when filming this, but nevertheless it was a good movie. I take a seat on the brown furry couch next to Harry’s spot and cover myself in one of the blankets Harry had bought down.
He inserts the DVD into the player and presses play, and the familiar logo pops onto the screen. Despite my earlier assumptions that both of us weren’t drowsy, I feel my eyelids sag heavily over my eyes and as I look over to Harry, his seem to be doing the same. I knew for a fact neither of us would last throughout the whole movie.
I was right.
I was abruptly awoken when I felt the soft linen of sheets being placed over my fully clothed body.
‘WHAT?’ I say in a fluster, panicking for no apparent reason other than confusion.
‘Shh love, just putting you to bed.’ Harry softly murmurs, kissing my hair. I felt my heart explode into balls of fur or something warm and fluffy. I chuckle.
