‘Ha. Yeah.’ I stutter awkwardly as Harry basks.
‘Cute!’ Amber claps, leaning onto Zayn. Niall and Louis finally come to their senses and clap slightly like Amber- I knew Louis would be shocked, but Niall had almost built me up for this- he knew this was coming. I felt bad.
‘Yeah we aren’t here for us guys- it’s Louis’ birthday.’ I mutter sheepishly. The foolish grin that was always planted upon Louis’ face returns again upon the mention, and everyone returns to their usual selves. As the boys bounced around on screen with banter flying between them. I sat and watched as the five boys I’d known for about 2 weeks yelled and squealed at each other, and I felt as though for once I fit in. They were like my dysfunctional family for the moment. I didn’t mind one bit.
Amber and I were similar. We sat there and laughed with the boys but didn’t make much of an input- instead, we chatted on the chat underneath. The boys didn’t mind and neither did we. Amber turned out to be a really nice girl. She’d met Zayn when he was on a holiday in Spain, and they’d immediately caught each other’s eyes. She had no idea who he was and she was working at the hotel, so they saw each other everywhere. In the end he ended up asking her on a date although he’d probably never see her again- but she ended up moving to Manchester, and when she found out he was around, she came down to see him. It was like love that was meant to be. She mentioned that she’d seen me around, in newspapers and such- and when she heard I was going on tour with the boys, she knew I’d somehow end up with Harry.
I didn’t know I’d end up with Harry. I’d always imagined it to be Louis, because I’d known Harry before I’d met One Direction. Somehow, though, I wasn’t too upset that I was with Harry now. I don’t regret anything. Amber was telling me about how nice Bradford was, but I wasn’t really reading it. My mind was elsewhere.
‘Well I must go, I’m having dinner with the family. Bye guys!’ Louis sighs, waving at the camera.
‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY!’ We all chorus, cheering at the screen. Louis signs off, ending the chat, so we all decide to go our separate ways. We say goodbye on chat and Harry shuts my laptop, placing it on the couch.
‘You know, I should take you out on a date.’ Harry suggests, looking down at me. I raise my eyebrows, watching him as collected his guitar and stored it back in the cupboard.
‘What would we do on this date?’ I question.
‘It’s a surprise, but dress nicely.’ Harry smirks, taking my hands and helping me up off the love seat/couch.
I bound up the stairs while Harry waits down stairs for his turn upstairs. As I open my suitcase though, I panic. What was I going to wear? How was I going to do my make-up? So many decisions, so little time…
I pick out a nice little pink number, which was too frilly for my liking but my brother had bought me it for my birthday, unsure of what else to pick, and it was quite nice compared to some of the other attempts at gift purchasing. I realized that my black accessories would go so well with this, so I take out my black patent leather heels and matching clutch and dive for the bathroom where I kept my make-up.
Applying it was easy, it was picking the make-up to match the outfit was where I really lacked in talent. As I applied it I realized I’d picked a winner this time, with just the right combination, and when I finished, I didn’t look too bad. I did a once over in the mirror and decided to finally emerge where Harry waited, sitting on the bed, twiddling his thumbs. He looked rather stunning himself, to be honest.
‘I didn’t realize I took so long, handsome.’ I flirted, biting my heavily glossed lip. His head snaps up to me, and he takes a few seconds to respond.
