The four pointed their fingers at me. My eyes widened with what they just did.

“W-why me?” I asked myself.

“Miss Ramirez?” ma’am looked at me with her left brow raised.

I looked at the four and I could see from their faces that they want me to lie for them. I was slapping myself in my head for getting involved with these guys last night.

“I was sick last night ma’am. I called Clark and I asked him to bring me some food. Austin, Billy and Jack helped Clark taking good care of me last night. I was really burning last night that’s why they decided not to sleep to keep an eye on me.” I said straightly trying not to give my teacher any hint of lie.

“I never thought that you knew these four.” Ma’am said in disbelief.

“Well, ma’am, I’ve been friends with them since I was in grade eight. They used to come to my former school to visit me.” I said another lie. That’s the only excuse I could make!

“I guess you four are forgiven. I received a phone call last night from the police station saying that four young men from our school stole the side mirror of their car, I thought it was the four of you.” Ma’am said while wiping her glasses.

“It wasn’t us ma’am.” Jack said in a smile.

“Okay, sit down now.” They all sat down at the back right corner of the classroom.

I heaved a sigh knowing that ma’am Valdez believed us. I was really a liar! How am I going to face Sylvia and Annie for not telling them about this? Should I lie to them, too?

I looked at Sylvia and Annie. They gave me a look saying, “Explain to us what happened.”

I swallowed a lump that formed in my throat and looked away.

Being with those four delinquent guys is really a dangerous thing not interesting!

I would be dead! I just sighed in frustration.

“What was that?” Sylvia asked in grimace while we were heading to the cafeteria.

“You know them?” Annie added grimacing, too.

“Guys, before you say something negative, let’s look for a table first.” I said then I looked around when we reached the cafeteria.

We found a vacant table so we went there and positioned ourselves. Sylvia and Annie were sitting on the other side while I was sitting alone on the other.

“Now, explain.” Annie demanded.

I swallowed first. I didn’t know what to do. Should I lie? Should I tell them that everything was not true at all? What?

“Mandy!” the two exclaimed that made me gasped.

“Alright! I’ll explain now!” then I sighed, “I knew them since I was in grade eight. I just didn’t tell you about them because since we were in grade ten, you kept on telling me that they were bad guys and dangerous.” I said trying not to give them a hint of nervousness and lies.

“Continue.” Annie added.

“Last night, I was really sick—“

“Is that the reason why you don’t want any extra help from us in terms of money because they somewhat help you with it?” Sylvia asked in amazement.
