For the last two weeks, Jordan has been a mingle of nerves. His best friend, Aaron, was turning 24 soon and he had invited Jordan over to his apartment in New York for a few days to celebrate and catch on, since they hadn't seen each other for more than a month. Thing is, since Aaron left the house they shared in Columbus back in September to pursuit his dreams in the big apple, Jordan has come to the realization that he was, in fact, in love with his best friend.

The first four months without his friend had been hell. He missed Aaron's company, his voice around the house, sharing breakfast in the morning, the cheap deodorant smell he hated so much, even Aaron's dirty laundry spread around the house. He couldn't believe he missed finding Aaron's dirty socks in the most peculiar places. He didn't talk to him about it though; his friend was doing great, already catching some acting roles here and there. Whenever they talked on the phone he sounded so happy that Jordan couldn't bring himself to talk about how bad he was actually doing. Aaron seemed to notice though; his best friend was too quiet. So, at the end of every phone call, he would ask Jordan how he was doing, and they always had the same exchange.

"I've talked too much, tell me about you, are you doing okay?" Aaron would kindly ask, and Jordan would answer, almost whispering but loud enough for his friend to hear "yeah, i'm fine, It's just... I just miss you". "Hey, I miss you too, buddy".

They've seen each other a few times since then and they talk or text every day. Aaron has gone back to Columbus a couple times, Jordan has already visited him in Manhattan. The last time they hang out together they even went to LA for a week in January. And yeah, they always had a great time when they were together, but when they had to say goodbye and part ways at the end of each visit or trip, Jordan felt numb. It was as if he was set in automatic. They would take a cab to the airport in silence, hug there for a minute or two, a few pats on the shoulders and that was it. They were alone again. Well, Jordan was alone again. He doesn't understand how Aaron does it. He's always so happy. So.... positive. Jordan, on the other hand, cries every single time. On the plane when it takes off or in the cab on the way back home, he bursts in tears until his head hurts and his eyes are red and puffy.
